Project Title: Labkey Server Premium Edition Software Renewal
Laboratory of Immunology (LI) investigates the basic genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, and cellular immunology of the immune system. Current investigations include autoimmune disease pathogenesis, vaccine strategies, lymphocyte development, T- and B-cell receptor gene rearrangement, MHC molecule structure and function, antigen processing, T-cell and cytokine receptor signaling, apoptotic cell death, and regulation and activity of cytokines.
Software Suite Labkey is for HIV Neut, Flu Neut, RSV Neut analysis. It’s also a database that houses all the neut assay analysis with many customizable capability such as generating summary/report as needed. This is a server based application currently giving access to RSV and Flu groups.
Labkey has an eight-year history of utilization between various research project/laboratories and collaborators. This program is embedded within the various laboratory protocols, security, and programs. To change software systems/protocols would be divesting, not only to the collection and analyze of data, but between various research institutes that utilize this system. In addition to the software compatibility, Labkey is the only approved IT solution for this arena. The alternate would be to obtain, program, and test new system which would slow and put numerous ongoing research projects at risk. Please note the work performed at VRC/NVITAL has implications on global health initiative such as Ebola, Zika, HIV and pandemic Influenza.
With the life aspect of this software, the risk is too high for an alternative. Labkey manufactures and distributes the software.
