Statement of Work
- Expert Vibroacoustic Analyst-
1.0 Background
The Contractor will support NASA/JSC in providing an expert vibroacoustic analyst to support Orion Crew Module (CM) and Service Module (SM) Direct Field Acoustic Field (DFA) Testing.
2.0 Objectives
The main objective of this contract is to secure a vibroacoustics expert to perform DFA test modeling and correlation. Currently, no verified analysis techniques are available to predict the vibroacoustic response of the unit under test when subjected to a direct acoustic field. Contrary to the approximation of a diffuse field in a large reverberant acoustic chamber, the temporal and spatial acoustic field characteristics and spatial correlation parameters are generally unknown. The primary intent of this contract is to develop a model of the acoustic field and structural coupling parameters to provide response predictions with similar confidence compared to reverberant test methodology.
Modeling and correlation will cover two test Programs; the DFA and reverberant evaluation tests of the CM EFT-1 and the reverberant acoustic test of the European service module static test article (E-STA). The DFA tests will have been performed at the Lockheed Martin SSC-Denver Facility on March 29th through March 5th 2016 and include CM EFT-1 DFAT tested on the Ground Test Article (GTA) stand (approximately 11-ft above the ground), CM EFT-1 DFAT tested in lower stand configuration (approximately 2-ft above the ground), and the EFT-1 CM on GTA stand reverberant test. The e-STA tests will be performed at the NASA Plumbrook reverberant acoustic test facility in May 2016 and include the e-STA installed on a 4-ft stand with and without fluid in the primary propulsion system fuel and oxidizer tanks.
3.0 Scope of Work
The expert contractor in vibroacoustic analysis will perform the following duties:
· Utilize CM acoustic test results to
· Analyze vibroacoustic test results for subsequent model development and correlation analysis
· Perform test/analysis correlation of the existing vibroacoustic models to reverberant test results
· Develop mathematical representation of the acoustic field parameters Note: In the most general sense this may entail new formulations compared to those currently employed in commercial codes
· Develop vibroacoustic models of the direct field acoustic system for application to existing vibroacoustic models
· Assess acoustic field characteristics relative to changes in test set-up, test article, and control variations
· Develop methodology and analysis tools to predict DFA test response with similar accuracy compared to reverberant predictions
· Correlate existing SM vibroacoustic models to reverberant test results
· Provide recommendations on SM DFA test plans/procedures
· Perform pretest prediction analysis for SM DFA testing
· Provide recommendations to NASA/JSC
· Deliverables as described in section 4.0
4.0 Deliverables
4.1.1 Report results of CM EFT-1 DFAT tested on the GTA stand
4.1.2 Report results of CM EFT-1 DFAT tested in lower stand
4.1.3 Report results of SM DFAT volumetric test without fairings
4.1.4 Report results of EFT-1 CM on GTA stand reverberant test
4.1.5 Correlated models of all configurations
4.1.6 Analysis tools and associated documentation
5.0 Period of Performance/Schedule
The period of performance is 6-months ARO. April through September Fiscal Year 2016.
6.0 Travel
One week to support the eSTA acoustic test (NASA Plumbrook) Two one-week technical interchange meetings (TBD)
