SPECIFICATIONS

Tunable Diode Laser System at 657 nm and Optical Frequency Doubling System for 431 nm

BACKGROUND:

Research and development of optical atomic clocks and highly-frequency-stabilized laser sources.

PURPOSE:

The laser systems to be purchased will be used will be used for high resolution laser spectroscopy.

DELIVERABLES:

Tunable diode laser system at 657 nm and optical frequency doubling system for 431 nm

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

Tunable diode laser system with center wavelength at 657 nm Output power: 35 mW output after 60 dB optical isolation Mode-hope free tuning range: >= 10 GHz Laser linewidth: <= 200 kHz Diode current modulation bandwidth:

Two optical isolators included, each with >= 60 dB isolation, transmission > 80%, and clear aperture exceeding 4 mm Two laser diodes included: one installed in external cavity diode laser system, one replacement piece Includes digital control electronics for laser diode current, temperature, and piezo control Diode current noise: 280 pA/sqrt(Hz) at 1 kHz, < 50 nA pk-pk (0.1 to 10 Hz) Diode current stability: < 100 ppm/sqrt(khrs) after 1 hour warm-up Diode temperature repeatability: < 1 mK after 1 hour warm-up Piezo voltage noise: <= 140 nV/sqrt(Hz) at 1 kHz Replacement of laser diode is user-serviceable Tunable 657 nm diode laser system: output power 35 mW after 60 dB optical isolation, Laser linewidth:

<= 200 kHz, Diode current noise: 280 pA/sqrt(Hz) at 1 kHz, < 50 nA pk-pk (0.1 to 10 Hz), used to seed a NIST-owned optical amplifier.

Optical frequency doubling system for 431 nm To be interfaced with NIST-owned laser system at 862 nm (Toptica TA Pro, 1.5 W output) Output power: >400 mW Coarse Tuning: +/- 1 nm Includes control electronics for Pound-Drever-Hall stabilization of optical power buildup system High bandwidth piezo-electric (PZT) control (>=20 kHz) Includes installation and training at NIST to integrate doubling system with existing NIST-owned laser system Optical frequency doubling system for 431 nm: >400 mW output with 1.5 W pump, includes labor to integrate new system with existing NIST-owned diode laser system

DELIVERABLE SCHEDULE:

The contractor shall deliver no later than eighteen (18) weeks after receipt of order.

INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE:

End user will inspect and test the merchandise within 2 weeks of delivery. The merchandise should perform according to specifications.
