About this file
This is a Requirements/Specifications document for a federal contract opportunity issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Physical Measurements Lab, Time and Frequency Division, Atomic Devices and Instrumentation Group (Contract Number NB688000-26-00406).
NIST seeks to procure a custom control electronics system replacement for an Ultrastable Cavity-laser System. The primary deliverable (Item 1) is a SYNCRO control unit in a 19-inch, 3 height units enclosure with customized configuration to upgrade existing locking electronics delivered under project AU00615. The system must include servo loop electronics for Pound-Drever-Hall laser frequency stabilization with high-bandwidth PID controller, an ORC-TEC Temperature Controller for temperature stabilization of the Electro-Optic Modulator (EOM) and vacuum chamber, and all additional components necessary for full functionality. The vendor must install the SYNCRO unit at NIST's user laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. The delivery of goods, installation, and training must be completed no later than 10 weeks after receipt of order (ARO). A 12-month warranty is required. Inspection and acceptance will be completed once the system is fully installed by the vendor, with inspection expected 8 weeks ARO. The document indicates that planning considerations, electronic media requirements, training, maintenance, government-furnished material/equipment, and travel are marked as "N/A," though vendor technician on-site installation is required. No separately priced options or services are specified in the document template.

General Statement of Need The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Atomic Devices and Instrumentation Group seeks to procure a custom control electronics system replacement for an Ultrastable Cavity-laser System. The replacement electronics must provide Pound-Drever-Hall laser frequency stabilization, temperature control for the Electro-Optic Modulator (EOM) and vacuum chamber, and all necessary components for the system's full functionality at the user's laboratory. This acquisition aims to upgrade the existing locking electronics, ensuring seamless integration with the existing setup and minimal disruption to ongoing research activities.
The desired outcome of this procurement is to obtain a reliable and efficient control electronics system that enables precise laser frequency stabilization and temperature control, ultimately supporting the advancement of scientific research and development in the field. The performance objective is to achieve stable and precise control of the laser system, enabling researchers to conduct high-quality experiments and gather accurate data.
