About this file

This document is a Requirements/Specifications document for a 1396 nm Single Frequency Laser, issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under solicitation number NB688000-25-02083. The Quantum & Nonlinear Nanophotonics Group at NIST requires a single frequency, narrow linewidth laser with a 1396.6 nm central operating wavelength for a quantum sensing project involving a strontium optical lattice clock with integrated photonics.

The laser specifications include a continuous wave output, wavelength range of 1340-1450 nm, optical frequency stability less than 100 MHz per Kelvin, short-term linewidth of 100 kHz or less, and optical isolation of 35 dB. Additional requirements specify an optical fiber-coupled laser output, electronic controller with touchscreen display, power rating over 80 mW, laser current and power modulation capabilities, frequency control via PZT adjustment, and remote control interfaces. The procurement includes software, electronic manuals, and a license key, with a 12-month/3000-hour warranty. Delivery, installation, and training are to be completed within 16 weeks after receipt of order, with planned government acceptance testing over 7 business days.
