About this file
This Requirements / Specification Document from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) details the procurement of waveguide components for the Communications Technology Laboratory's Radio Frequency Technology Division. The specification requires five different sets of fixed attenuators in various decibel levels (3 dB, 10 dB, 20 dB, 30 dB, and 50 dB), each to be provided in rectangular waveguide bands including WR-90, WR-62, WR-42, WR-22, and WR-28. Each attenuator set must include fine alignment dowels and precision flanges with specific UG designations for each waveguide band.
Key procurement details include a delivery deadline of October 15, 2025, shipping to NIST-Boulder at 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80305, and an acceptance period of 60 days. The components are intended to act as check standard devices for S-parameters calibration service, with requirements for stable electromagnetic properties and repeatable, high-quality measurements. The document indicates no special installation, training, warranty, or travel requirements, and marks most supplementary sections as "N/A" (not applicable).

Requirements / Specification Document
TITLE: Waveguide Components
Requesting Laboratory / Division / Group:
Communications Technology Laboratory Radio Frequency Technology Division Guided Wave Electromagnetics Group (672.01)
General Statement of Need:
The Communications Technology Laboratory (CTL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) enables science and industry by providing essential measurement methods, instrumentation, and standards to support all phases of communications technology development, from fundamental characterization and discovery to production.
The Radio Frequency Technology Division (RFTD) within CTL requires a selection of fixed attenuators to act as check standard devices for the S-parameters calibration service. These fixed attenuators shall have stable electromagnetic properties over time, and they shall have precision flanges to ensure repeatable, high-quality measurements. These attenuators are required in a range of rectangular waveguide bands including WR-90, WR-62, WR-42, WR-22, and WR-28.
