Specifications for the fiber board along with the strapping and shipping requirements:

Quantity: 60 bundles

SOUND DEADENING BOARD (cellulosic fiber), 4'x12'x0.5" thick, in accordance with ASTM C208-08A. All faces must be uncoated natural surface finish with square cut edges. Sound deadening board must be composed of wood fiber cellulose products, NOT sugar cane cellulose products.

Assuming 0.5" per sheet, then the sound deadening board units will be made up of 96 sheets each to make up the required 4’ thickness. Each unit will have a 20 gauge, 4'x12' mild steel plate on the bottom of the bundle. The units will then be banded VERY tightly with 6 high tensile steel bands 1-1/4" X 0.031" around the width of each unit. The clip for each band must be positioned on the side of the unit, NOT on the faces.

The units in the shipment must be side loaded on flatbeds with 4”x4” dunnage below and between units for ease of forklifting. NO DUNNAGE BETWEEN STRAPPING & SOUND DEADENING BOARDS. The shipment must be tarped during transportation so no boards are damaged. The MSDS and specification information is required.

Attached is a picture of the fiberboard in the application we are using the product. We stand units up vertically along an arc to capture warhead fragments for analysis. In the picture you can visually see how we have the units strapped.

We strap around the width of the unit six times. The straps towards the ends of the unit are offset from the edge approximately 1 foot and the straps are then two feet apart from each other. So if you went down the length starting at one end of the unit you would have a metal strap at 1', 3', 5', 7', 9', and 11'. The strapping needs to be VERY TIGHT, since we upend these bundles, we need to limit the amount of movement between the sheets. When the straps are tightened on the bundles they will cut into the first couple of sheets. It is more beneficial for us to have the straps tight than to preserve the sheets. So it is okay to cut into edges of the first two to four sheets on the top and bottom. The clip for each band must be positioned on the side of the unit, NOT on the top.
