STATEMENT OF WORK
(SOW)
(RPG Motor Magnetics)
PR# 1301036407
1.0 Background
The purpose of this purchase is to fabricate a set of magnetics (stator and rotor) for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT). After verifying that the contract holder meets fabrication requirements specified below, NUWCDIVNPT will supply mechanical drawings and a specification. The contract holder will fabricate the magnetics based on the drawings and specification provided.
1.1 Places of Performance: Places of performance are the contractor’s site and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport
1.2 Authorized Users: Requiring Department is Code 85, Undersea Weapons, Vehicles and Defensive Systems
1.3 Sponsor: Office of Naval Research (ONR)
1.4 Types of Funding: RDTE
2.0 Scope
The contractor shall fabricate five (5) sets of magnetics, comprised of a potted stator and rotor assembly. The contractor shall follow novel manufacturing processes and materials in accordance with Government specifications, for high torque density and efficiency requirements, and reduced volume constraints.
3.0 Applicable Documents
The contractor shall perform the tasking required in Section 4.0 in accordance with the specifications in section 3.1.
3.1 Specifications
3.1.1 NUWC_21RPG-6100 RPG Motor Magnetics Specification (Rev A)
3.1.2 Drawing: 21RPG-6050_STATOR LAMINA (REV A)
3.1.3 Drawing: 21RPG-6051_BACKIRON_ROTOR_MOTOR_RPG (REV B).
3.1.4 Drawing: 21RPG-6052_MAGNET_MOTOR_RPG (REV A).
3.1.5 Drawing: 21RPG-6054_ROTOR_ASSEMBLY (REV A)
3.1.6 Drawing: 21RPG-6056_LAMINATION_RPG (REV A)
3.1.7 Drawing: 21RPG-6057_STATOR_ASSEMBLY (REV A)
3.1.8 NUWC_21RPG-6100 RPG Motor Performance Specification (Rev A)
4.0 Technical Requirements
4.1 Develop Project Plan
The contractor shall develop a project plan describing approach, schedule, delivery, and materials costs in accordance with the Applicable Documents in Section 3.0 and using GFI in Section 5.0, the contractor shall construct motor assemblies.
4.1.1 Deliverables/Schedules
The contractor shall provide a Work Management Plan, in accordance with (CDRL A001: DI-MGMT-81911).
4.2 Fabrication of stator and rotor
The contractor shall fabricate five sets of magnetics, in accordance with the specification provided in section 3.0. The magnetics will be comprised of a rotor and stator assembly.
The specification provides a detailed description of all the processes that need to be followed. The drawings supply all necessary dimensions and materials that shall be used in the magnetics fabrication process.
4.2.1 In accordance with the specifications provided in section 3.0 the contractor shall produce a stator with the following characteristics:
A stack of at least 4.255 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches in length while maintaining tight dimensional tolerances of +.000”/- .003” .
Each lamination shall be a continuous piece of Arnon-7 Fully- Processed Thin-Gauge Non-Oriented Silicon Steel.
Winding end turns shall be kept to a minimum in order to reduce overall system length and weight (maximum of .800”” inches on both forward and aft end turns).
4.2.2 In accordance with the specifications provided in section 3.0 the contractor shall produce a rotor with the following characteristics:
Magnets shall be constructed of MCEN4471 neodymium iron boron magnets.
2.5 inches in length while maintaining dimensional tolerances of
±.010”.
Have a carbon fiber wrap within the specified air gap.
Specifications for dimensions and design requirements will be provided in drawings and winding diagrams to build a prototype stator and rotor after verification of meeting the fabrication requirements specified. Successful completion of this effort shall result in a completed to specification prototype stator and rotor. Terminal-terminal resistance and inductance measurements shall be made at specified frequencies and shall meet values in AD 3.1.3 as specified in NUWC_21RPG-6100 RPG Motor Performance Specification.
4.3 Completion of motor validation testing, and testing report The contractor shall take terminal-terminal resistance and inductance measurements at specified frequencies as specified in NUWC_21RPG-6100 RPG Motor Performance Specification., and shall meet values supplied by NUWCDIVNPT. The contractor shall provide a report detailing the test conditions and results.
4.3.1 Deliverables/Schedules
The contractor shall provide a Test Report, in accordance with (CDRL A002: DI-NDTI- 80809B).
