BRAND NAME SPECIFICATION:

The Mercury Systems Rugged Enterprise HD server platform is a ruggedized computer system engineered to meet shipboard constraints, specifically applicable to this project is the available submarine enclosure space, enclosure dimensions, power, and cooling constraints imposed by the shipboard equipment enclosures available on U.S. submarines. The Mercury Systems servers required under this procurement are the only commercially available items that meet these equipment constraints for shipboard-deployed systems in order to support shipboard installation for at-sea testing of a virtualized .

The decision to proceed on Brand Name basis is based on research into additional computer system manufacturers and their product lines. Due to hardware compatibility issues (size, weight, and power) with the submarines, there are no other computer systems available that could meet the computer performance requirements for deployment of a virtualized , the constraints of the available shipboard enclosure dimensions, available enclosure space, available power, and enclosure equipment cooling budget.

RESELLERS:

Mercury Systems sells its product directly to commercial customers. They also work with two authorized resellers for this particular product line: Four Points Technology, LLC., and Network Runners. The Government’s requirement can be met both by the original manufacturer, as well as its authorized resellers.

Requiring Department:

Based on the above, I recommend this acquisition be conducted on a Brand Name Specification basis. I certify the technical data which form the basis of this justification are complete and accurate.

APPROVAL:

Contracting Officer:

Based on the above, I have determined that the circumstances of the contract action deem only this brand can fulfill the requirements. I certify that this justification is accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge and belief.
