STATEMENT OF WORK

(SOW)

Acoustic Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Chamber with Shielded Antechamber and RF Shielded Door

PR No. 1300757346

1.0 Background

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT), Undersea Warfare Electromagnetic Department, Code 34 supports NUWC managed programs by providing Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) test services as part of the Environmental Qualifications Testing (EQT) as well as engineering / developmental testing services. New state-of-the-art equipment and systems require extremely low acoustic and vibration free environments in order to test electromagnetic systems. Existing Code 3431 Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Chambers are not acoustically quiet enough to reveal susceptibility issues in accordance with MIL-STD-461 requirements. NAVSEAINST 2400.20 requires that the NUWC Engineering Agent (EA) maintain a state-of-the-art EMC laboratory capable of performing all submarine related Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) qualification tests.
