v1.0_APRIL2016 Brand Name Justification Title: Hewlett Packard Hardware

PR#: 1300701820

BACKGROUND:

The Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) Code 104 has a requirement to procure Hewlett Packard (HP) brand Information Technology (IT) hardware to upgrade the Division’s Research, Development, Technology & Evaluation (RDT&E) Classified and Unclassified Network Infrastructure to maintain compliance with Department of Defense and Department of the Navy directives.

Brand Name Justification:

Procurement of the HP hardware ensures NUWCDIVNPT Code 104 maintains a homogenous environment that integrates with the existing network infrastructure. It is important that new assets are compatible with the infrastructure already in place to ensure seamless integration and interoperability between all components within the existing environment where standardization, centralized administration, and centralized management are required. Introducing other manufacturers’ products into this environment will require different versions of software, different operating systems and third party images, maintenance of different images, and increased staffing to maintain familiarity with multiple manufacturer systems.

In addition, NUWDIVNPT already employs internally developed and customized tools and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that are specifically designed to support HP systems in performing required security patching, scanning, imaging, conducting system upgrades, and making fixes. Therefore, introducing other manufacturers’ products into the existing network infrastructure will also require development of processes specific to those products which are not compatible with existing SOPs employed by the Government.

The hardware will transition into the current configuration and infrastructure setup and enables future upgrades to take place without replacing all of the equipment simultaneously. As such, these HP supplies are the only components capable of meeting the Government’s requirement due to specific product features and compatibility with the current infrastructure.

RESELLERS:

Any vendor that can meet the minimum requirements. Potential offerors include New Tech Solutions, Inc. and FCN, Inc.
