Criterion 11
Test 1: Insulation Resistance Test:
This test shall be performed on each Transformer fabricated under CLIN 0001 through CLIN
0004. The Contractor shall measure insulation resistance from primary to secondary, primary to ground and secondary to ground at 1 and 10 minute intervals using a continuous applied DC test voltage. The voltage used for testing shall be greater than or equal to the transformer Secondary peak voltage rating given as Criterion 4 in the minimum specifications for CLIN 0001 through
CLIN 0004. The ratio of the insulation resistance at 10 minutes to that at 1 minute (the polarization index) shall be greater than 2.0. The measured resistance shall be 250 Megohms or greater.
Test 2: Voltage Step-Up Ratio and Secondary Output Voltage.
The Contractor shall perform the Voltage Step-Up Ratio and Secondary Output Voltage test on each Transformer fabricated under CLIN 0001 through CLIN 0004. With the Transformer
Secondary OPEN, the Contractor shall apply an 800 Volts zero-to-peak sine wave at the minimum frequency of the applicable band, to the primary and measure the RMS and zero-to-peak voltage on the secondary. The Contractor shall record the zero-to-peak voltage measurement on the data sheet. The Contractor shall repeat this measurement with the primary input at 800 Volts zero-to-peak, while increasing the frequency in steps of 10 Hz for CLIN 0001, 20 Hz for CLIN 0002, 50 Hz for CLIN 0003, and 500 Hz for CLIN 0004, over the frequency band specified in the minimum specifications for each CLIN under Criterion 1. For each of these measurements, the secondary zero-to-peak voltage shall measure the CLIN 0001 through CLIN
0004 specified zero-to-peak +/- 5% value listed in the minimum specifications under Criterion 4.
Test 3: Leakage Inductance Referred to Secondary.
This test shall be performed on each Transformer fabricated under CLIN 0001 through CLIN
0004. With the Transformer Primary Shorted, apply a 10 Volts zero-to-peak sine wave at the minimum frequency of the applicable band, to the Secondary and, using an RLC meter, measure the inductance across the primary. Record the inductance measurement on the data sheet. Repeat this measurement with the secondary input at 10 Volts zero-to-peak increasing the frequency in steps of 10 Hz for CLIN 0001, 20 Hz for CLIN 0002, 50 Hz for CLIN 0003, and 500 Hz for
CLIN 0004, over the frequency band specified in the minimum specifications for each CLIN as
Criterion 1. For each measurement, the inductance shall be less than the specified value listed in the minimum specifications for CLIN 0001 through CLIN 0004 under Criterion 7.
Test 4: Endurance Testing.
The Contractor shall perform the Endurance Testing on one of each type of Transformer fabricated under CLIN 0001 through CLIN 0004. The Test Load for the unit under test, as described in Figure 1 of the minimum specifications for CLIN 0005, shall be connected to the
Transformer Secondary. The Contractor shall apply a “White Noise” voltage of 800 Volts zero-to-Peak to the Primary for two (2) hours. The Contractor shall measure and record the core temperature at the following times:
1 minute 10 minutes 90 minutes
2 minutes 15 minutes 120 minutes
3 minutes 30 minutes
5 minutes 60 minutes
The core temperature rise shall not exceed 20 degrees Celsius over the initial measurement at 1 minute.
A Government witness shall be present at the Contractor’s facility to witness the Acceptance
Tests. The contractor shall provide notice of the proposed Acceptance Test schedule to the
NUWCDIVNPT Technical Point of Contact at least 7 working days prior to performance of the
Acceptance Tests, for Government approval.
NUWCDIVNPT will provide Government Furnished Property, a representative power amplifier, to conduct the Acceptance Tests listed herein. The power amplifier will be made available three weeks after contract award.
