Brand Name Specification:
The connector assembly has a unique fit/form/function/capability which is specified by the baseline drawing. The connectors direct mates (physically fits) to the AN/BQQ-10 (V4) existing inboard and outboard cables. The SEACON DT-700B connector assembly has been qualified during DT-700B First Article testing (including shock testing) and is the only qualified manufacture that currently meets the existing mateable connection requirement.
It is estimated that acquiring a different make and model DT-700B Connector Assemblies would cost the Navy an additional as well as create an additional delivery delay to the fleet of at least eighteen to 24 months. This estimate is based on the following:
There are several steps required to approve a new connector for fabrication of the current connector inserts and assemblies:
market research and/or vendor development (~ ) first article test plan including proper review (~ ) fabrication of first article DT-100 Hydrophone for destructive testing (~ ) first article testing (~ ) shock testing: labor hours and facility (~ ) Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) (~ ) v1.2_JUNE2016 drawing revisions (~ ) drawing review and acceptance (~ ) drawing database update (~ ) Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) (~ )
RESELLERS:
SEACON Brantner & Associates, Inc. does sell directly to the Government; however, there are distributors who can also provide the connector assemblies:
(1) SEACON Advanced Products LLC (Cage Code: 4EAN5)
(2) SEACON Phoenix LLC. (Cage Code: 5GS63)
Requiring Department:
Based on the above, I recommend this acquisition be conducted on a Brand Name Specification basis. I certify the technical data which form the basis of this justification are complete and accurate.
