Amendment 02: Answer Industry Questions 3-16

3. Question:

Is it possible to extend the deadline for pricing submission?

Answer:

The closing date for this solicitation is extended to April 11, 2016, 2 PM Eastern Standard

Time.

4. Question:

“Each enclosure is rack mountable”, does the Government require the Systems to be mounted in a rack and delivered as individual computing 2 U enclosures?

Answer:

The Government requires a delivery of 2 individual 2U enclosures. The Government will mount the enclosures in the rack.

5. Question:

Does the Government already have a supplier for similar systems previously?

Answer:

No

6. Question:

Where should the systems be shipped to (address is best)?

Answer:

Receiving Officer, Naval Station Newport, 47 Chandler Street, Newport, RI 02841-1716.

7. Question:

How many Enclosures/ Systems are required?

Answer:

2 Enclosures are required.

8. Question:

Is the Enclosure a hard requirement?

Answer:

Yes, the Computer Cluster has to be in an Enclosure.

9. Question:

The extra storage is that to be contained with the systems or do you want a SAN or NAS device also?

Answer:

The Government does not want a NAS device; the extra storage should be contained within the system.

10. Question:

What type of warranty is required for these clusters?

Answer:

The Computer Clusters shall have a one year warranty.

11. Question:

Does Government require any specific cables to interconnect the nodes?

Answer:

No

12. Question:

Would the Government please confirm that the 12 TB storage per node required needs to utilize Solid State Drive (SSD) technology and no electromechanical drives in the node will be accepted?

Answer:

Yes, the Government must have the Solid State Drive (SSD).

13. Question:

There are a wide range of Solid State Drives on the market. We would recommend that the Government include endurance requirement (such as: Drive Write per Day, or Tera

Byte Written) in order to receive best value proposals with most suitable SSDs to your workload?

Answer:

The government does not need endurance requirements for this system.

14. Could the Government please identify whether the 10Gb/sec interface required is copper (RJ45) or Fiber? If Fiber, is required, does the Government require specific SFP+ transceivers to be included with the system?

Answer:

The 10Gb/sec interface required can be either copper (RJ45) or Fiber. No, the Government is not requiring a specific SFP+ transceiver.

15. Question:

Is the requirement firm to fit eight computing nodes into a 2U space?

Answer:

No, the requirement is for each Enclosure having 4 computing nodes.

16. Question:

Is the solution 2 X 2U = 8 computing nodes acceptable?

Answer:

4U is acceptable. The requirement is to have 4 computing nodes in each of the two

Enclosures.
