STATEMENT OF WORK

SolidWorks Training

1.0 BACKGROUND

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) currently has the requirement to provide training in Solid Modeling Computer Aided Design (CAD), specifically in SolidWorks: a software NUWCDIVNPT maintains license agreements with. SolidWorks Solid Modeling CAD software is used for the mechanical engineering design and development of undersea systems in support of the NUWC Division Newport mission. The purpose of the training is to provide the new users at NUWCDIVNPT the standard methods of Solid Modeling CAD and to maintain the skill sets of current SolidWorks users at NUWCDIVNPT.

2.0 SCOPE

Currently, SolidWorks Solid Modeling CAD software is the standard software application for Solid Modeling CAD NUWCDIVNPT maintains licensing agreements for. The contractor shall provide the following three individual courses over a period of 8 days; Core Essentials, Advanced Assembly and Surfacing. The contractor shall also provide an offsite location on Aquidneck Island (Portsmouth, Middletown, or Newport) Rhode Island, equipped to facilitate the training and provide the necessary computer equipment and software to teach the SolidWorks courses. The contractor shall be an authorized reseller of SolidWorks.

3.0 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS: N/A

4.0 REQUIREMENTS

The vendor shall provide the facilities and classroom training and computer workstations for SolidWorks Solid Modeling Computer Aided Design (CAD) as follows:

4.1 Core Essentials (4-day Course)

This course of instruction should train designers and engineers in the use of SolidWorks as their primary Computer Aided Design tool. No prerequisite required.

• 3D-feature based parametric solid modeling for part design;

• Assembly creation;

• Drawing generation.

4.2 Advanced Assembly (2-day Course)

Advanced Assembly is a how-to on the best practices for large assembly management.

Comprehension of SolidWorks Essentials required.

• In-context assembly design;

• Layout-based assemblies;

• Advanced mechanical linkages;

• Large assembly management

4.3 Surfacing (2-day Course)

To learn the skills for surface-based approaches to product design for ergonomic, aesthetic, and/or aerodynamic shapes. Completion or comprehension SolidWorks Essentials and Advanced Assembly required.

• Basic and advanced surfacing functions;

• Hybrid surface/solid modeling;

• Surface modeling techniques

• Working with imported solids and surfaces.
