Low Noise Fiber Laser
RFQ
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q1) I am assuming that the wavelength of each of the 8 lasers is the same (1561.419 nm), as you will only need a 10nm offset of each laser. This can be achieved by thermal tuning of each laser, as it has >400nm of thermal tuning. Am I correct?
A1) YES, THE LASERS ARE TO BE ALL AT THE SAME WAVELENGTH. YES YOU ARE CORRECT.
Q2a) One of the specs state " Wavelength multiplexing: capability to provide separate frequencies spaced by 10 pm." Can you clarify this?
A2a) THE GOVERNMENT WILL BE DOING THE WAVELENGTH MULTIPLEXING EXTERNAL TO THE PRODUCT BEING PURCHASED, THE PRODUCT BEING ORDERED MUST BE CAPABLE OF CONTROLLING
LASERS FOR A WAVELENGTH MULTIPLEXED GRID SPACED BY 10 PM.
Q2b) Do you need a wavelength multiplexer which allows all 8 wavelengths to be combined into one output?
A2b) NO, Q2c) In this case, we would need to know the specific input wavelengths for the multiplexer. Do I understand this correctly?
A2c) N/A, because of answer A2b above.
Q3) The RFQ asks for PZT tuning on the X15 lasers. The X15 does not have this facility developed. May I ask if this is a mandatory requirement?
A3) THIS IS NOT A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT. IT WAS ADDED BY MISTAKE AND HAS BEEN
REMOVED FROM THE GOVERNMENT SPECIFICATION. SEE UPDATED SPEC SHEET.
