1.1 BACKGROUND
In September of 2015, NSWCPD was assessed at Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) level 3 based on an appraisal done in accordance with the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI). In accordance with CMMI Institute regulations, an organization must be re-assessed every 3 years. Therefore, NSWCPD is planning to conduct a SCAMPI A in September 2018. Prior to the SCAMPI being performed, a SCAMPI Gap Analysis must be conducted to evaluate the organization’s readiness to proceed to SCAMPI.
1.2 SCOPE OF WORK
1.2.1 A SCAMPI Gap Analysis is to be performed in anticipation of a SCAMPI A in the fall. The SCAMPI will be for NSWCPD which is comprised of roughly 1000 people, across 5 departments, and 60 programs that fall under the CMMI model. Approximately 5-10 programs will be assessed.

The evaluation will be based on the development constellation and V1.3 of the CMMI product suite considering all Maturity Level 2 & 3 Process Areas.
3.3. Selected practices considered to be leading indicators of implementation will be evaluated based on the collective opinion of the Lead Appraisers with input from the organizational unit’s representatives.
