INTRODUCTION

The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Corona Division, Range Sustainment Department, Code RS31 requires the equipment to link New Pass Peak and Bombing Range B20 via RRU 6 (TIS23) on White Mountain, with an OC3 Microwave data link, for Fallon Tactical Training Rang (TTR).

2.0

BACKGROUND

NAS Fallon is requesting a new OC3 microwave link between Bombing Range 20 (B20) and New Pass Peak. The existing microwave link between B20 and NAS Fallon is failing due to the End of Life / End of Support for the existing microwave equipment installed for that link. Due to the fact that the range is used daily, Commander Naval Air Force Pacific (CNAP) has requested a microwave link from B20 to New Pass Peak so there is no drop in communications at the range. This will enable training activities to continue as scheduled.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Tactical Training Range at Fallon NV requires an OC3 microwave data link between Bombing Range B20 and the rest of the Range complex network. The Range requires that SRAM only purchase and delivers equipment through this requirement. Equipment is described in the specifications below.

SPECIFICATIONS

4.1 Microwave Radio

The Aviat Eclipse Radio is a software based radio system that uses replicable cards for the interfaces both the Radio Access Card (RAC) and the input and output interface cards known as Data Access Card (DAC). The DACs available have interfaces for DS0 through OC3, and Ethernet. The RACs support 4xT1 (4xE1) through 5 Mbts.

Current design is based on space diversity using 7-8.5 GHz band, 40 MHz channel, 64 QAM modulation. The radios will transmit at 27.5 dBm with a receiver threshold level of –74.75 dBm and a system gain of

102.25 dBm.
