STATEMENT OF WORK
1. SCOPE
1.1. Title: Perform Diesel Freshwater (DFW) Flush to Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) Set (Engine and piping only) for the
1.2. Location of Work: Work will be performed in the Forward compartment, lower level AFT (AMR) Frames 51 to 62. This work will be accomplished at the Naval Submarine Base New London, Connecticut.
1.3. Identification: Diesel Freshwater (DFW) Flush to Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) Set (Engine and piping only).
1.4. Security Classification: Identify if any Equipment, Space or Document is classified and subject to the applicable provisions (omit when not applicable).
2. REFERENCES
2.1. (a) Naval Ships’ Technical Manual Chapter 220, Vol 3, S9086-GX-STM-030 Rev 4; Diesel Jacket Water
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1. The contractor shall provide and set up the EDG Set Freshwater flushing rig/unit and necessary storage tanks consisting of a pier side/engine flush rig pump, filters and in-line monitoring equipment. The EDG Set DFW system flush shall be in accordance with reference (a). Flushing material and equipment shall be in accordance with reference (a) paragraph 220-45.3; equipment is to be equal or better than reference (a) Table 220-45-1. The contractor will flush the EDG Set by fully circulating the flushing fluids through the EDG Set at or above the minimum specified flushing flow rates until reference (a) cleanliness criteria is met.
3.2. The contractor will be required to support the DFW Engine Flush scheduled on or about March, 2019. Flush will continue through a 30 day period barring any delays to complete the DFW Engine flush. These dates are projected dates and are subject to change. The flush sequence, per reference (a) is controlling. Additionally, the contractor may be expected to support additional curtailments/stops that may arise due to unplanned work stoppages.
4. NOTES
4.1. The required Tooling and Equipment is listed in reference (a) paragraph 220-45.3, Equipment is to be as an equal or better than reference (a) Table 220-45-1.
4.2. Final verification and acceptance of system cleanliness will be based upon satisfactory DFW system analysis by NAVSEA and/or PNS.
4.3. Daily verification of contractor rig flushing and rig self-monitoring unit by sample comparison may be used at the sole discretion of PNS
