3.2. Electrical Output

3.2.1. Output shall be ungrounded (commonly referred to as ‘floating the ground’ or ‘isolating the neutral’) three-phase power.

3.2.2. Output voltage shall be variable between 450 and 480 VAC at 60 Hz, while maintaining the rated power levels. The maximum STANDBY amperage will be approximately 1,353A (@ 480V, 900 kW and a 0.8PF) or 1,443A (@450V, 900KW, and a 0.8PF). Therefore, the generator shall have a 1,600A frame breaker

Rev C Page 2 of 6 set to trip on long-time delay at 1,600A. The instantaneous trips shall be HIGH (8X or higher) to allow for in-rush currents.

3.2.3. The STANDBY power output shall be a minimum of 900 kW over a 1.0 to 0.8 PF range lagging (1125 kVA at 0.8 PF).

3.2.4. The insulation rating of the generator windings to ground must exceed five (5) Megohms.

3.2.5. Diesel Generator SHALL have at least one 120 VAC, 15 Amps, single-phase power receptacle available for string lighting when the diesel generator is (or, is not) running, or have internal lights sufficient to illuminate the controls when the diesel generator is (and is not) running.

3.6. Footprint

3.6.1. The diesel generator shall be deployed pier-side to provide backup power to a submarine so there is limited space available.

3.6.2. The diesel generator shall fit inside a standard 20 foot conex box. An additional 10 feet will be permitted for all an external fuel tank if necessary to meet run time requirements.

3.6.3. The total length of generator and fuel pod shall not exceed 30 feet.

Rev C Page 3 of 6

3.6.4. The trailer shall be of recent vintage, and be capable of being moved by tractor or mule.

3.7. Fuel

3.7.1. The diesel generator shall be delivered with the quantity of fuel sufficient to run for at least twelve (12) hours in duration at a load of 900 kW (1125kVA).

3.7.2. The generator engine shall be diesel-powered.

3.8. Noise

3.8.1. When operating at full speed, noise levels shall not be over 85 dB[A] at three (3) feet from the unit.

3.9. Construction
