STATEMENT OF WORK
1. SCOPE
1.1. To replace existing temporary reactor compartment ventilation systems with a new design. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) has selected a blower model which exceeds the flow/static pressure ratings of our existing system. Current funding allows for purchase of three systems. Request a bid for an additional four systems in the future.
2. REQUIREMENTS: The design drawing provided is mainly for reference purposes and may be modified as necessary by the manufacturer (e.g., the blower may be oriented as necessary; the electrical equipment may be positioned in a different location, etc.). The intent is to have a compact, yet easily serviceable unit which is capable of being lifted via crane and forklift. Numbers in the drawing refer to corresponding numbers below (2.1 refers to 1 etc.)
2.1. Pressure Blower: (New York Blower #1908A10) 10hp, New York Blower Company, Premium Efficiency Motor, Arrangement 4, Direct Drive. Must meet AMCA type B specifications, and have a flanged inlet. Mounted with vibration dampers. Vertical Discharge. Blower must be capable of being removed with minimal disassembly of nearby components.
2.2. Exhaust Stack: Diameter of 8”. Height should be able to accommodate the placement of the Sampling Nozzle Mount (sampling mount should be placed 7-8 duct diameters above the outlet of blower exhaust, give nozzle mount about 6 inches of room from the top flange). Refer to the attached Figure 1 for exhaust stack drawing.
2.3. Sampling Nozzle Mount: Refer to the attached Figure 2 to see dimensions. Welded to exhaust stack, at least 7-8 duct diameters above the blower outlet. Must go beneath the flow measurement station. Sampling nozzle mount is used to attach shipyard furnished equipment.
2.4. Flow Measurement Station: Located on exhaust stack, should be a similar model to the Dwyer STRA circular, 8” diameter, flanged Airflow Measurement Station. See the attached Figure 3 below for details. Shipyard will provide tubing/gauges to use with the flow measurement station. Placement of the flow measurement station must conform to the guidelines provided by the manufacturer. http://www.dwyer-inst.com/Product/AirQuality/FlowSensors/SeriesSTRA
2.5. Cover: Some means to prevent rain water intrusion is needed for the exhaust stack.
2.6. VFD: The adjustable frequency drive indicated in the electrical parts spreadsheet (line #3) must be an oversized enclosure. It should be mounted to the Structure in a way that is equivalent to the diagram attached.
2.7. Fork Lift Slots: Standard
2.8. System Flow Pressure Switch: (not shown) Pressure switch will provide indication of blower operation by sensing static pressure inside the ductwork generated from the blower. Dwyer Model 1910-1 or equivalent (see electrical parts spreadsheet). Provide taps for pressure sensor tubing as necessary.
2.9. Pad-eyes: Shall be constructed with a safety factor of 10 based on the total weight of the assembled design.
2.9.1. The Designer of the integral lifting attachments (ILAs) shall be a Qualified Engineer
2.9.2. All calculations shall be reviewed by a Qualified Engineer other than the Designer.
2.9.3. Any welds shall be designed per American Welding Society (AWS) Specification D1.1
2.9.4. The total weight (empty and full, if applicable) of the Unit shall be permanently marked on each side of the Unit with 2-inch high lettering (or larger) with a contrasting color from the Unit (yellow unacceptable).
2.9.5. Each ILA shall be permanently identified with its Working Load Limit (WLL), [e.g., WLL=10,000 LB] by stamping, etching or by placing on a permanently attached label plate.
2.9.6. Design lifting attachments to accept standard rigging hardware or handling equipment (ASME B30.26 equipment).
2.10. Joints: Joints shall be bolted/gasketed. Rubber gaskets shall be 0.25” thick.
2.11. Framework: Frame shall be painted steel.
2.12. HEPA Filter: A skid designed with standard forklift slots, painted steel frame, pad-eyes consistent with blower framework, a flanders BF series filter housing BF1-1H1W-2GGF-304-D3 (one 24x24x11 ½ HEPA filter and one 2” pre-fliter) with upstream and downstream sample ports and injection ports. Each side of the housing shall have an outward turned bolting flange. Skids must be able to be stacked at least two high safely. Differential pressure ports for the pre-filter and the HEPA filter shall be included and filter DP gages connected (see item 2.14). A back flow damper shall be provided on the downstream portion of the filter housing to prevent any back flow through the filter. Damper shall close automatically on its own when there is no flow through the system.
2.13. Filter DP Gages: DP gages are to be Dwyer Series 2000 gages. The HEPA filter gage shall be a 0-10” w.c and pre-filter shall be a 0-2” w.c gage. All hardware for DP gages and connections are to be stainless steel.
2.14. Electrical: The desired electrical schematic and parts are on separate sheets. There are hyperlinks in a provided spreadsheet to different websites showing the parts for the electrical portions of the system. These parts are a reference to go by and the parts may not be any equivalents or substitutions. Any vendor for any of the parts specified may be used.
