Delivery by: 30 April 2017 Option years: Year 1: 5/1/2017-4/30/2018, Year 2: 5/1/2018-4/30/2019 (option years for support will begin once software is successfully launched.)

DELIVER TO: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, ME Detailed Specifications are below

SPECIFICATIONS:

PNSY requires welding simulation software to simulate and improve welding fabrication, and to eliminate time consuming and inefficient trial-and-error methods for welding fabrication. This will allow welding engineers to analyze heat transfer, distortion, residual stresses, metallurgical transformations, joint design feasibility, and risks of in-service failure, and will provide the ability to test multiple procedures/joint designs for a variety of factors before any welding is performed.

The welding simulation software must meet all of the requirements listed below. We will not be able to accurately model controlled heat input welding sequences for safety concerns without all the capabilities listed. The software will need to have the ability to operate on the legacy network.

Two option years for support and maintenance would begin after the software has been installed.

Minimum Software Requirements:

1.

Simulation of SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW welding processes

2.

Material database including at least Carbon steel, low/high alloy steel, austenitic steel, duplex, aluminum, non-ferrous alloys, stellite cladding, Inconel.

3.

Ability to upload/export to and from finite element programs (AutoCAD, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Inventor) and be able to upload/export data to and from other shipyards (some are currently using SYSWELD).

4.

2D and 3D modeling capabilities

5.

Clamping sequence simulation

6.

Multiple heat source models and thermal cycle simulation

7.

Heat distortion calculations, real-time temperature distribution imaging, and residual stress simulation

8.

Weld sequencing and time interval simulation

9.

Cooling sequencing, pre and post heat treatment simulation and calculations

10.

Material physical property calculations that take into account thermal history of the material

11.

Phase transformation modeling during welding

Documentation that demonstrates all of these requirements must be provided, in order for your quotation to be determined technically acceptable.
