1.0 ABSTRACT:
1.1 This item describes the requirement for a Bergen OEM
authorized contractor to overhaul sixteen (16) Bergen KVGB-16 cylinder heads and prepare them for shipping.
2.0 REFERENCES:

3.0 ITEM LOCATION/DESCRIPTION:
3.1 Locations/Quantity
3.1.1 Location: Se-young Marine Industries

3.3 Bill of Material Contractor Furnished (CFM):
3.3.1 Contractor to provide all parts to overhaul
cylinder heads via submitting Condition Found Report
(CFR)
4.0 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT/MATERIAL/SERVICES: NONE
5.0 NOTES:
5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of
tier, must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item.

5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of
tier are advised to review the other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item.
6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None Additional
7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
7.1 Transport to contractor’s facilities
7.2 Provide the services of the OEM technical service
representative(s) and OEM qualified diesel engine mechanics. Only OEM authorized or qualified representatives will be permitted to disassemble, inspect, and refurbish main diesel components.
7.3 Provide all tools and material required, including, but not limited to special tools, rags, degreaser, and lubricant for accomplishment of all elements of this work item.
7.4 Hydro test cylinder heads upon disassembly. Once
disassembled all parts will be inspected by OEM and MSC Rep for serviceability.
7.5 Inspect all valves and valve seats.
7.5.1 Clearance is to be checked to meet engine
specification.
7.5.2 Initially inspect with Penetrant Test (PT) all
valves and valve seats for damage. Submit CFR with results of tests. MSC Rep will witness all PT testing.
7.5.3 Check contact condition with valve spindle by
blue paste.
7.5.4 Lap contact surface of cylinder liner.
7.5.5 Grind valves and valve seats to ensure proper
seating.
7.5.6 Re-inspection with PT after grinding

7.5.7 Clearance is to be checked to meet engine
specification.
7.5.8 Upon completion of refurbishment and
inspection by MSCREP, crate cylinder heads in crates and ship back to MSCO Korea.
7.6 Final Report:
7.6.1 Provide a detailed trip report identifying all
findings, repairs, recommendations and final results in a PDF format to the Chief Engineer, MSCREP and ABS Surveyor.
7.7 Manufacturer’s Representative:
7.7.1 Provide the services of authorized OEM
representatives for Bergen KVGB-16 diesel engines.
