GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Main Feed Pump Overhaul

1.0 ABSTRACT:

1.1 This item describes the requirement to overhaul main feed pumps.

2.0 REFERENCE/ENCLOSURES:

2.1 References: None

2.2 Enclosures (1): List of parts needed for overhaul of two (2) pumps

3.0 ITEM LOCATION/DESCRIPTION:

3.1 Location/Quantity:

3.1.1 Location: Main Machinery Room #1

3.1.2 Quantity: Main Feed Pumps – two (2) each

4.0 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED MATERIAL / EQUIPMENT / SERVICES:

4.1 Ship to provide fully furnished workshop with common tools and materials, coffin special tools and all lubricants needed to overhaul the pumps

5.0 NOTES:

5.1 None.

6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS:

6.1 All work performed and services provided shall be to the satisfaction of the Contracting Officer’s Representative.

7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:

7.1 Provide the services of an OEM approved manufacturer’s representative to supervise overhaul of two (2) Coffin main feed pumps.

7.2 Disassemble the main feed pumps and turbines. Fully inspect all components and provide written report detailing conditions found and repairs required to return the units to normal operating condition.

7.3 When directed by the Chief Engineer, supervise reassembly of the pumps and turbines.

7.4 Stand by while the ship performs an operational test of the units. Verify proper operation in accordance with all manufacturers’ requirements.

7.5 Attend sea trials if required.

7.6 Provide the parts listed in Enclosure (1). New parts shall only be used in the event the existing parts are found to be defective once pumps are fully disassembled. Any parts not used shall be shipped back to the contractor’s facility at government expense. The contracting officer shall subsequently issue a modification reducing the value of the contract for their full value.

7.7 For estimating purposes, contractor shall assume four (4) working days onboard shall be required to complete all repairs. Contracting officer shall issue a contract modification in the event time actually needed is less.
