QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

The following are answers to questions received from potential offerors. The answers provide clarification only and do not constitute an amendment to the solicitation.

NAME OF CONTRACTOR: _______________________

SPECIFICATION ITEM NO.: 0011

PARAGRAPH / SECTION NO: 7.1.1.1

TITLE: FURNISH GENERAL SERVICES (JHSV)

QUESTION: Paragraph 7.1.1.1 of the work item requires the Contractor to provide 800 amps of shore power at 450 volts maintained at +/- 5 volts. Until the last availability of the USNS Trenton (EPF-5), the contractor was required to maintain voltage at +/- 5%. Shore power at the Contractor’s facility is 480 volts, and the load on the ship is not large enough to lower the voltage to less than 470 volts. Consequently, contractor would be required to rent a portable generator to maintain voltage at +/- 5 volts at considerable expense. Unless the item is changed to reflect +/- 5% rather than +/- 5 volts, a significant price increase in shore power item will be necessary. Please clarify the tolerance for shore power voltage.

ANSWER:

Please provide a portable generator to maintain voltage at 450 +/- 5 volts.
