PD: Composite Test Chamber November 17, 2023

The Contractor listed above shall provide a mechanical testing environment chamber that meets the following specifications:

1.0 Construction

1.1 Exterior shell

1.1.1 The exterior shell shall be made of Stainless Steel.

1.1.2 The shell dimensions shall be 15” W x 26” D x 27.5” H.

1.1.3 The backside of the shell shall have a rear protection cover.

1.1.4 The underside of the shell shall have four (4) 1/4-28 tapped on bottom for mounting.

1.2 Internal liner

1.2.1 The interior liner shall be made of Stainless Steel.

1.2.2 The internal dimensions shall be 10” W x 14” D x 22” H.

1.3 Door

1.3.1 The door shall be hinged on the left side with latches located top and bottom and reverse hinge.

1.3.2 The door switch shall cut off power to the elements, solenoids, and blower motor when the door is opened.

1.4 Viewport

1.4.1 The chamber view port shall be made of Pyrex.

1.4.2 The chamber view port shall be 4” W x 6” H minimum.

1.5 Internal light

1.5.1 The unit shall include an internal light that will be capable of withstanding a maximum of 600°F.

1.6 Service temperature

1.6.1 The chamber internal service temperature shall be -100°F to 600°F

1.6.2 The chamber shall have a type RTD thermocouple and connector with mounting bracket. The Contractor shall provide a spare oven RTD.

1.7 Ports

1.7.1 The chamber shall have two (2) 3-3/8 ID load ports centered top and bottom.

1.7.2 The chamber shall have insulation plugs to plug the ports specified in 1.7.1.

1.7.3 The chamber shall have a Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) injector assembly installed to meet the sub-ambient service temperature requirement of 1.6.1.

1.7.3.1 The LN2 injector assembly shall have a cryogenic solenoid valve rated for LN2.

1.7.3.2 The system shall include a 6’ long minimum cryogenic hose that fits a standard LN2 tank 1/2” 45° flare fitting.

2.0 Electrical power

2.1 The system shall be able to utilize a 230 VAC, 1 phase, 60 Hz electrical connection.

3.0 Oven Control

3.1 The chamber temperature shall be controlled via a Watlow PM digital set point controller with a solid state relay power control for use with resistive loads.

3.2 The controller shall have on-off control for auxiliary output cooling when required.

3.3 The controller shall have a 6 foot minimum cable assembly with power and thermocouple leads, a circuit breaker, and a power indicator light.

3.4 The controller shall be installed in a bench-top cabinet.

3.4.1 The cabinet shall measure no more than 17” W x 13” D x 5.25” H.

4.0 Deliverables

4.1 Upon delivery of the test chamber the Contractor shall supply the following:

a. Chamber operation manual

b. Chamber warranty information

c. Controller operation manual

d. Controller warranty information

e. Manufacturer recommended preventative maintenance schedule
