Statement of Work NISE Project: Airframe Bearings Lab Improved Dynamic Load Test System
1.0 Background
The NAVAL Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division AIR 4.3 has a requirement for a MTS Model 322.41 ServoHydraulic Material Test System including a Crosshead-mounted 500 kN (110 kip) Actuator, Model 244.22 Linear Hydraulic Actuator Assembly, Model 215.35 Rotary Actuator Assembly, Model 293.11 Hydraulic Service Manifold, and Water Cooled Collars/Extension Rod to replace and upgrade our existing MTS system. AIR 4.3 is the qualifying activity for the Navy for airframe bearings and as such, continuously test manufacturers’ bearings to ensure that the quality of industry bearings is maintained. These bearings can go in safety of flight applications so it is critical that this capability be maintained. The present MTS system has outdated software and inadequate capacity for current workload. This new MTS system will have the capacity the activity requires for the wide variety of testing that is required for the laboratory.
2.0 Requirements
Test System Hardware/Software Requirements
· The system shall be capable of dynamically oscillating test bearings while applying dynamic radial and axial loads.
· The test system shall be capable of oscillating each of its three axes simultaneously at a frequency of 5 Hz with amplitudes of ±20° on the rotary and ±10,000 lbf on each of the linear actuators, assuming radial and axial strokes of less than 0.05 inch.
· The radial load capacity shall be a minimum of 100,000 lbf, with 6 inches minimum of stoke.
· The axial load capacity shall be a minimum of 20,000 lbf, with 6 inches minimum of stoke.
· The oscillation angle shall be a minimum of 90°, with a minimum torque capacity of 5,000 in-lbf.
· The machine shall be capable of simultaneously controlling the torque, angle, radial and axial load, and radial and axial displacement channels in 6 interconnected command-feedback loops.
· The test system software shall be capable of recording any or all of the aforementioned channels at programmable intervals or thresholds.
· The test system software shall be compatible with the programmed test procedures that have been written for the existing test system.
· The test system shall be compatible with the test fixtures and mounts of the exiting test system.
· The test system work table shall include a center keyway for alignment, in addition to the standard T-slots.
Additional Requirements
· On-site assembly of test system components (hydraulic and electrical connections between subcomponents and general hardware assembly) by the vendor.
· Initial setup and calibration of the test system by the vendor.
· A system warranty that the test system is free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months after installation in the Airframe Bearings Laboratory.
· Basic training for NAVAIR personnel who will be operating the test system.
· Maintenance manuals and schematic of test system.
· Software support for a period of 12 months.
