About this file
This Q&A document addresses technical specifications for ballistic glass under solicitation N0017825Q6695. The document clarifies that the requirement is for laminated glass with sealed edges without a metal frame, and confirms the glass needs to fill a 4-inch cavity. A standard UL Level 8 solution of approximately 2-inch thickness was proposed by a vendor but appears insufficient given the frame specifications.
The associated solicitation is a small business set-aside RFQ from Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division for custom-cut ballistic glass with delivery to Dahlgren, VA. The award will be made based on Lowest Price Technically Acceptable, with quotes due by February 19, 2025 at 12:00 PM EST. Award is anticipated by March 2025. The material must be TAA compliant, and shipping costs should be included FOB destination. POC is Carla McKown, and vendors must be registered in SAM to be eligible for award.

N0017825Q6695 Ballistic Glass Q&A
Q. Does the glass assembly include a metal frame or just the laminated glass with sealed edges?
A. Laminated glass with sealed edges
Q. If it includes a frame, can you please provide a rough dimensional sketch?
A. Frame not required
Q. If it does not include a frame, can you please provide a rough sketch of the current frame opening? This will allow us to size the glass properly and provide recommended seals for assembly.
A. No drawing available.
Q. Does the glass need to fill most or all the 4” cavity? Our standard UL LVL 8 solution is ~2” thick, so if that is acceptable, there will be ample room in the frame for weather seals.
A. Yes, the frame is made for a 4” thick piece of glass
