EVALUATION & REPAIR SERVICES
STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)
1.0 BACKGROUND
In today’s modern battle spaces, where potential enemies understand the United States (US) strengths and capitalize on the asymmetric nature of specific areas, small unit leaders will increasingly enter these hostile environments and encounter life-threatening situations. The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory/Future’s Directorate (MCWL/FD) recognizes that tactical units need an organic suite of unmanned systems to conduct Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition (RSTA) in these complex environments. The MCWL/FD also believes that an integrated Tactical Robotic Controller (TRC) can assist this mission by providing a single universal controller for the suite of unmanned systems (Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UASs)). The TRC provides observational data of confined/distant areas where human access is impractical or unsustainable, mitigating risk to the Marines normally carrying out these missions.
The MCWL/FD Science and Technology (S&T) Division, Ground Combat Element (GCE) Branch, is instrumental in quickly adapting to our adversaries through counter measures. In order to support MCWL’s efforts and ultimately the warfighter, TRCs’ require timely integration and testing with a mesh network and other tactical unmanned sensors. MCWL conducts experiments to determine the efficacy of such a computer system at the Marine small unit level. Focus is primarily on the minimization of the sensor to shooter timeline, and facilitating a rapid prosecution of tactical targets.
