About this file

This statement of work outlines requirements for an automatic isoperibol calorimeter to be purchased by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division Applied Analytical Laboratory. The laboratory requires a 6400 Automatic Isoperibol Calorimeter from Parr Instrument Company with the ability to conduct 5-7 tests per hour using a fixed 1138 oxygen vessel and quick twist-lock closure. The calorimeter must incorporate a closed-loop cooling subsystem and be suitable for quality evaluation applications involving numerous propellant and explosive samples requiring heat of combustion or explosion testing. Maintaining the calorimeter in good working condition is critical to avoid project delays or work stoppages for the laboratory.

STATEMENT OF WORK

For 6400 Automatic Isoperibol Calorimeter 3/1/2023

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) Applied Analytical Laboratory (R14) is purchasing an Automatic Isperibol Calorimeter. This calorimeter will be heavily used in the laboratory (R14). The 6400 Automatic Isoperibol Calorimeter represents next evolutionary step in the Parr automated calorimeters. Inclusive and compact, the instrument incorporates a closed loop cooling subsystem into the calorimeter. The subsystem uses a thermoelectric cooler assembly attached directly to a one liter water tank which supplies cooling water to the calorimeter. Additionally, many new material or polymer samples can be ran on a smaller scale using the calorimeter. The calorimeter’s capabilities are vastly useful for a variety of quality evaluation (QE) applications regarding numerous propellant samples that require heat of combustion or heat of explosion testing. An external nitrogen pressurized tank is used to supply rinse water to the calorimeter. It is critical that this instrument is kept in good working condition so as not cause program/project delays or work stoppage.
