Description: Closed-cycle microscopy cryostat with superconducting Magnet

This purchase request is for a closed cycle cryostat designed for optical microscopy with a superconducting magnet. The system must be very low vibration for microscopy, with the ability to move the sample over 5 mm with high resolution, and be able to change the magnetic field orientation between parallel and perpendicular to the sample. The specific requirements are given below:

• Cryogen-free cryostat

• Sample base temperature of 4 K or lower, with temperature control up to 300 K.

o Temperature stability of ±50 mK from 4-50K o Cool down time of system ≤ 15 hours unattended o Sample cooldown of about 2 hours

• Sample vibration level of < 50 nm with a measurement bandwidth of 200Hz

• Magnetic field of 9 T o Ability to change the orientation from perpendicular to parallel to the sample (Faraday to Voigt) o Persistent mode switch installed o Protected against damage due to quenching o Magnetic field up to 9 T at 4-10 K sample temperature o Magnetic field of at least 6 T for 300 K sample temperature

• Magnet power supply with computer control

• Free space optical access to the sample for multiple excitation lasers and white light imaging.

• Low temperature sample insert for confocal microscopy o Closed-loop XYZ positioners allowing sample movement over 5 mm, with <1 µm step size.

o XYZ scanning stages over 30 µm, with <10 nm resolution.

o Control electronics for scanning stages and positioners with computer control using Labview o Low temperature apochromatic objective with NA of 0.81 for 700 nm to 980 nm

• Electrical feedthroughs:

o Feedthroughs for the sample positioners and scanning stages o Feedthroughs for 4 or more sample wires o 2 microwave/RF coax feedthrough with the coax terminated in the sample space.

This wiring must operate at frequencies up to 5 GHz.

• The compressor must be water cooled and consume less than 9kW of electrical power

• Compressed helium flexlines of 40 ft

• Warranty of 1 year or more

• Installation and training
