Questions and Answers Combined Synopsis/Solicitation N00173-18-Q-KN06

1. What range are you looking to cover?

Answer: We are planning to use the system for atmospheric research. So, the range of interest is meters to tens of kilometers distance. And, the system must record each camera's settings during image collection to enable full utilization of the imagery data for atmospheric characterization.

2. Is that a fix or a PT camera?

Answer: This camera system does not require pan/tilt components. However, it is expected that the camera system will periodically be deployed on mounts that pan/tilt, so the system must be able to function in varying attitude/orientations.

3. Is that for day and night?

Answer: The camera system will be operated in daylight and nighttime conditions.

4. Is that for Fire Detection?

Answer: While the camera system may be used for monitoring forest fires and forest fire emissions, atmospheric research will be its primary function.

5. SWIR Camera Requirements: “Shall support integration time from <0.50 nanoseconds to >1 minute to cope with a range of targets, from bright and rapidly changing, through very dim targets requiring long integration times to resolve”. Is it nanoseconds or microseconds?

Answer: SWIR Camera Requirements are revised as follows: “Shall support integration time from <0.50 microseconds to >1 minute to cope with a range of targets, from bright and rapidly changing, through very dim targets requiring long integration times to resolve”.

Please see Attachment 1 – IR Imaging System & Camera Specifications Revised.

6. SWIR Camera Requirements: “Command & Control via Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232, and Camera Link, CXP, or similar digital camera imaging software”.

MWIR Camera Requirements: “Command & Control via Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232, and Camera Link, CXP, or similar digital camera imaging software.”

LWIR Camera Requirements: “Command & Control via Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232, and Camera Link, CXP, or similar digital camera imaging software”

Is Command and Control a Gigabit Ethernet only?

Answer: SWIR Camera Requirements are revised as follows: “Command & Control via Gigabit Ethernet, or RS-232, and Camera Link, or CXP, or similar digital camera imaging software”.

MWIR Camera Requirements are revised as follows: “Command & Control via Gigabit Ethernet, or RS- 232, and Camera Link, or CXP, or similar digital camera imaging software”.

LWIR Camera Requirements are revised as follows: “Command & Control via Gigabit Ethernet, or RS- 232, and Camera Link, or CXP, or similar digital camera imaging software”.

Please see Attachment 1 – IR Imaging System & Camera Specifications Revised.

7. LWIR Camera Requirements: “Must include neutral density filters and flame filters (for viewing high-brightness fires); prefer changeable on the fly (i.e. filter wheel)”.

Can LWIR Camera be used with the Flame Filter?

Answer: LWIR Camera Requirements are revised as follows: “Must include neutral density filters; prefer changeable on the fly (i.e. filter wheel)”.

Please see Attachment 1 – IR Imaging System & Camera Specifications Revised.
