Statement of Work (SOW) Far Field Measurement System
1.0 Scope
This Statement of Work (SOW) provides the established requirements for components of a far field measurement system to conduct future antenna and radome measurements. Details are listed in the Requirements section of the SOW. The components will consist of hardware (positioner systems, controllers, cabling, anechoic absorber) and software (antenna acquisition software and equipment drivers) to support the devices under test.
2.0 Applicable Documents
ASME Y14.100-2004 Engineering Drawing Practices ASME Y14.24 Types and Applications of Engineering Drawings
3.0 Requirements:
The work required by the Government under this contract shall be performed in accordance with this SOW. The contractor shall deliver commercial off-the-shelf components that satisfy the specifications listed in this document.
3.1 Azimuth Positioner: The azimuth positioner shall be able to support a vertical load up to 2000 lbs, a bending moment up to 1000 ft-lbs, and have a positioning accuracy less than 0.05 degrees. The positioner will include an RF rotary joint designed for use up to 50GHz.
3.2 Polarization Positioner: The polarization positioner shall be able to support a bending moment of up to 500 ft-lbs, an operating load of up to 500 lbs, and have an accuracy less than 0.05 degrees. The positioner will include an RF rotary joint designed for use up to 50GHz.
3.3 Indoor/Outdoor Absorber: The anechoic absorber shall be able to be used in both indoor and outdoor applications. For indoor applications, they shall meet NRL criteria for fire protection. They will be designed to withstand adverse weather conditions while maintaining the following performance requirements either indoors or outdoors:
Frequency band: 500 MHz - 40 GHz Absorption at Normal Incidence: -40 dB at 1 GHz, -50 dB at 18 GHz
3.4 Low Frequency Hybrid Absorber: The hybrid absorbers shall have good absorption characteristics at low and high frequencies through broadband design while being less than 48 inches in height. They will have the following performance requirements:
Absorption at Normal Incidence: -25 dB at 30 MHz, -40 dB at 18 GHz
3.5 Walkway Absorber: The walkway anechoic absorber shall be able to support a load of at least 175 lbs. The walkway absorber will have the following performance requirements:
Frequency band: 500 MHz – 40 GHz Absorption: 10 dB less than indoor/outdoor absorber (i.e. -30 dB at 1 GHz, -40 dB at 18 GHz)
3.6 High Frequency Absorber: The high frequency absorber shall provide good absorption for scattered energy arriving at angles of at least 15 degrees. The high frequency absorber will have the following performance requirements:
Absorption at Normal Incidence: -45 dB at 50 GHz Absorption other than Normal Incidence: at least -35 dB at 50 GHz
3.7 Positioner Controller: Positioner controller for the above azimuth and polarization positioners. Simultaneous axis operation is not required. Modes of control shall include axis position, velocity, and direction. The control functions shall be accessible from the System Controller. An emergency stop (E-stop) button shall be located in close proximity to the positioner controller that will interrupt all positioner movement.
3.8 Positioner Cabling: The maximum separation between the positioners and controller will be 100 ft.
3.9 Measurement controller: A switch controller for synchronizing data acquisition. The controller shall also be able to interface with TTL RF switches simultaneously (i.e. Single Pole Double Throw-SPDT on the probe side and SP5T switches on the device under test side).
3.10 Software: Far field antenna measurement software for data collection and analysis. The software shall be able to synchronize the measurement and positioner controllers to collect far field data. The analysis software shall include plotting styles of data list, rectangular and polar graphs, contour plots, and 3D images. The analysis software shall also include beam peak position/error processing, beam width, side lobe locations and levels, and pass/fail criteria for the analyses.
3.11 Software drivers: Software drivers for the positioners and measurement controllers
3.12 PNA Software Driver: Software driver for Agilent PNA
3.13 System Controller: Rack mount chassis computer (64-bit, Windows 7 Pro). 24” Monitor
3.14 LAN Switch: Rack mountable with cabling (10 ft).
4.0 Travel and Integration Support
The contractor shall support the installation, integration, drafting, documentation, and training of government test personnel on use of the far field measurement system at NSWC Crane. The trip shall be for one individual for four days onsite and two travel days. The trip shall take place the week following delivery of all items.
