Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) N00014-17-S-B012 Amendment 0001
The purpose of Amendment 0001 to BAA N00014-17-S-B012 is to respond to questions and to amend the BAA.
1. The following question and answer is provided:
(a) Question: The ONR BAA # N00014-17-S-B012 "Communications and Networking Discovery and Invention" is not completely clear, to us, whether you are focused on space, terrestrial, and underwater comms, or only RF (space and terrestrial). Is underwater comms an important piece of this BAA research.
Response: Only electromagnetic communications modalities should be considered for this BAA.
2. The BAA is hereby amended to revise Part I, Section F, “Research Opportunity Description,” Sub-section “Scope” on page four (4) of BAA N00014-17-S-B012, entitled, “Communications and Networking Discovery and Invention as follows (revisions shown in bold):
The goal of the Communications and Networking Program within the Office of Naval Research (ONR 311) is to support the Navy's Information Warfare vision by developing measurable advances in technology that can directly enable and enhance end-to-end connectivity and quality-of-service for mission-critical information exchange among such widely dispersed naval, joint, and coalition forces. The focus under this BAA is limited to electromagnetic communications modalities. The vision is to provide high throughput robust communications and networking to ensure all warfighters -- from the operational command to the tactical edge --have access to information, knowledge, and decision-making necessary to perform their assigned tasks.
