About this file
This document is Addendum 1 for a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Audio/Visual Systems Upgrade at Mattawan Consolidated School District in Mattawan, Michigan. The addendum covers technical clarifications for the middle school gyms' A/V system installation, addressing specific bidder questions about project implementation details. Key discussion points include equipment specifications, installation requirements, network connectivity, and site-specific considerations for both the new and old gymnasium spaces.
The addendum provides critical technical guidance, confirming that the school will provide a scissor lift for the project, screen paint for the new gym, and approving Audio/Visual over IP (AVoIP) technology for signal transmission. Additional network infrastructure requirements include pulling two network cables from each rack to the Main Distribution Frame (MDF), one for AppleTV and another for PA system integration. The document also confirms the need for audio ducking during school-wide announcements and specifies that a 48-port Panduit Patch Panel with Panduit jacks must be supplied, with network cable pathways approximately 140 feet in length.

1. Please confirm that the school will allow use of the scissor lift for the project or would you prefer that the AV contractor provide our own? This was mentioned in the walk through.
Yes, we can provide a lift for a certified operator.
2. Please confirm that the AV contractor will be providing the work to paint the screen with school provided screen paint in the new gym? The old gym will re-use existing.
Only the "New Gym" will need to be painted. We will provide the screen-paint. The "Old Gym's" screen will remain as is.
3. For the AV signal to the projector, is an Aurora VPX network AV over IP device acceptable?
On page 20 #3 it does reference;
“A system shall be installed where a lift will not be required to reach the projector’s location to reset devices.”
With AVoIP, the device would have a network IP address that allows the ability to reset, change, modify without needing to be at the device.
The VPX unit provides the ability to scale any resolution provided up to 4K 60 providing a wider range of sources to adapt without any adjustments needed.
This would also allow a preview of input or output to display on the touch panel control user interface.
Yes, AVoIP is acceptable as long as we can reset it from ground level over the network.
4. On page 22, #4 this references the ability to have a manual HDMI switcher located in the rack. If we utilize AVoIP, the switching is done through network and the “Input” AVoIP device would land at a small dedicated AV switch. All inputs, video and audio along with output would be identified within the user interface. The user interface is viewable from the touch panel or a web browser.
As long as we can switch inputs from the rack, this is acceptable.
5. Is there a need for this system to land on the school network for remote access by your department?
We don't need remote access, but we do need to have an additional network cable pulled for the AppleTV in the rack to our IDF.
6. On Page 22, #7 Ducking. Do we need to include ducking for any PA/Intercom announcements made during the school day? This would be in addition to the wireless microphone Ducking If PA ducking is required, where is the closest access to a PA I/O interface?
I didn't think about this at the time, but yes, ducking audio during school-wide announcements would be preferable.
Therefore, two network cables will need to be ran from each rack to the MDF. One network cable for the AppleTV and the other for PA system. The distance from each rack to the MDF is roughly 140 feet.
Existing space IS NOT available in the rack. A 48 port Panduit Patch Panel along with Panduit jacks will need to be supplied.
See attached map on next page indicating the Network Cable Pathway
