400 AMP AC/DC GTAW/SMAW INVERTER WELDING POWER SUPPLY

ORDERING SPECIFICATIONS

Document # 2341-3340

1. Power supply shall be 400 AMP AC/DC Inverter with Dinse style connectors and at least 8’ power cord

2. Must be capable of using SMAW, GTAW, Pulsed GTAW, & Carbon Arc Cutting processes

a. Must have hot start feature for SMAW

b. CAC-A process must be able to use up to and including ¼” dia. carbon electrode

3. Must have input power auto select feature to allow any input voltage hookup (from 208 to 575 volts) with no manual linking and as a way of dealing with unreliable power

4. Manufacturer must offer optional accessory cart specifically made to house this power supply and accessory water cooler. Cart must also have a single inert gas cylinder, and welding accessories

5. For GTAW AC welding must have independent amplitude/amperage control that allows electrode positive and electrode negative amperages to be set independently to precisely control heat input to the work (ground) and electrode

6. Must have extended AC balance feature which controls the amperage time on the electrode negative side needed for high quality aluminum welding

7. Must be able to operate in 20 to 400 Hz range to control arc cone and arc force

8. Must have smooth precision DC arc to aid in successful welding of exotic metals

9. Must have high speed DC GTAW pulse controls capable of adjustable pulse frequencies of up to 5000 pulses per second

10. Must have high frequency arc starter feature for non-contact arc starts

11. Must have 120V auxiliary power receptacle to accommodate on demand torch water cooler

12. Must have power source fan on demand cooling system operating only when needed for energy savings, minimize environmental contaminants introduced into cooling chamber, and for noise reduction

13. Must have non contaminating electrode touch ramp up feature for arc starting without high frequency

14. Must have feature to automatically set shielding gas post flow time related to amperage setting

15. Must have adjustable arc control feature to allow arc characteristics to be changed for specific applications and electrodes for AC/DC SMAW welding

16. Must have advanced square wave waveform feature fast puddle freeze, deep penetration and faster travel speeds

17. Must have soft square wave waveform feature for soft arc and maximum puddle control and wetting action

18. Must have sine wave waveform feature for traditional arc features

19. Must have triangle wave waveform feature for heat reduction and faster travel speeds when welding on thin gage aluminum

20. Must have independent program memory feature to maintain and or save local weld process parameters

21. Must have meters that can be calibrated for use when performing calibration/certification welding

22. Power supply must have rated output of 300A at 32V & 60% duty cycle with three phase power and

225A at 29V & 60% duty cycle with single phase power

23. Power supply must have amperage range of 3 to 400 amps.

24. Must be somewhat portable must be light weight inverter (150 lbs. or less)

25. Must be able to be used with 3T trigger method for remote amperage control which uses a hand held remote controller that has two buttons. One button initiates the arc and with repeated depression can ramp up to maximum preset amperage. The second button is used to decrease amperage if required during welding and continual depression will ramp down amperage until arc is extinguished

26. Must interface with S/26 current inventory of 3T trigger hand held remote control switches and foot peddle remote control switches

27. Power supply must be certified by an OSHA approved Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory such as but not limited to CSA, UL, TUV, etc.
