About this file

This document is a Material Ordering Data sheet for SAE J1993 high-carbon cast-steel grit. It specifies the required type, class, grade, hardness, durability, packaging, and sampling/testing requirements for the grit. The grit must conform to SAE J444 for cast shot and grit size specifications. It requires new manufactured grit only, with no recycled grit allowed. The quantity is 100. Sampling and testing procedures are detailed, including requirements that 90% of hardness readings be within the specified range and that failure of any sample will result in rejection of the entire order. The material is being procured under a related federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number SPMYM224Q1976 issued by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Maritime Puget Sound Naval Shipyard/TRF Bangor for SOLE SOURCE STEEL GRIT. The procurement will be conducted under FAR Parts 12 and 13 for commercial items and simplified acquisition.
