Axolotl Renovations Pre-Bid Conference Notes Q: Who’s responsibility is it to remove the wood from the wood shed?
A: BLM will remove the wood from the wood shed.
Q: What kind of concrete can be used for the project?
A: Any concrete used shall meet the testing and minimum strength requirements set forth in the specifications.
Q: What tolerances are necessary for the grade of the concrete pad in the battery room?
A: The most important aspect of the grade of the concrete pad is that it is level for the battery rack and also allows for suitable strength for its intended purpose.
Q: Sink Specs?
A: The existing sink may be re-used if not damaged during the construction process. If the Contractor chooses to use a replacement sink due to damage – or ease construction – the replacement costs shall be considered in the bid price for other scheduled items of the contract. The Contractor shall provide a product submittal prior to installing the replacement fixture.
Q: Is chinking acceptable for butting the new cabinets up to the existing cabin (this is the method being used in the existing cabin)?
A: Chinking will be allowed, but must match the color and characteristic of the existing chinking. A chinking formula designed for gaps of ¾” or greater will be required if the Contractor chooses to go this direction. A product submittal will need to be submitted and approved by the Project Engineer prior to any application.
Q: Is there a specific depth needed for sanding the existing floor? This was noted due to some slight unevenness (1/8 to 1/4 inch) of a couple of the floor boards.
A: Per spec, a sanding sealer that complies with MPI #102 should be used. The sanding (surface preparation) recommendations are per the product/manufacturer, and in most cases, do not specify a depth. Most manufacturers specify that a 180-220 grit sandpaper be used, and that the surface should be free of wax, dirt, dust or grit. All nail holes, cracks, and blemishes should be repaired. Given the nature of this project, some unevenness is expected. If major issues in the level of the floor are encountered, the level of the floor boards may need to be adjusted to avoid any hazards.
Q: Does the wall that separates the two sleeping areas extend all the way to the ceiling like it currently does or can it cut off at 8 feet or so?
A: Extend the wall to the ceiling.
