CHILLER REPLACEMENT
U.S. AGENCY FOR GLOBAL MEDIA
DRAFT Scope of Work
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 PROJECT INFORMATION
A. Project Identification: U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), Kuwait Transmitting Station, Administration Building, Chiller Replacement.
B. Project Location: Project to be located in Salwa, North of Kuwait City.
C. Owner: U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM)
D. Owner's Representative: USAGM will designate a Contracting Officer’s
Representative (COR).
E. Design Engineer: EJC International Services, LLC.
1.2 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
The demolition work consists of removing the existing concrete plinths chiller supports, pump housekeeping concrete pads, chillers, pumps, insulation, jackets, piping, piping specialties, AHU coils, fan coil unit and associated items.
The Work for the Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of replacement of the chillers, pumps, chilled water piping, piping specialties, AHU coils, fan coil unit, insulation with aluminum jacket. There will also be reconfiguration of the make-up water piping with new backflow preventer and new concrete pads and baffled water storage tanks, in addition to associated Controls and Electrical work.
A. Project will be constructed under a single prime contract.
B. The major new items of work of the project include, but are not limited to the following:
The contractor is responsible to furnish, install all items of work indicated in the construction documents. Any item not specifically indicated or mentioned herein or elsewhere in the contract documents but necessary for a complete construction and operation of each system shall be provided by the contractor.
1. Structural Work:
a. Concrete pads for Baffled Storage tanks and chillers support.
b. Concrete pad for pumps.
c. Piping supports.
2. Chilled Water System Work:
a. Chilled water system including (2) 30-ton air-cooled chiller, three
(3) AHU’s coil replacement, three (3) pumps (two operating and the third standby).
b. Chilled water piping and piping specialties.
c. Chilled water piping insulation and aluminum jacket vapor barrier.
d. Baffled Storage tanks.
e. Baffled storage tanks insulation and aluminum jacket vapor barrier.
f. Replace AHU chilled water coils for 3 AHUs.
g. Replace (1) Fan Coil Unit.
h. Chemical treatment for the chilled water system.
i. Controls and controls specialties for the chilled water systems.
j. System Test, Adjusting and Balancing.
k. System Commissioning.

BASIS OF DESIGN FOR THE END SUCTION CENTRIFUGAL CHILLED WATER PUMPS

3. Plumbing
a. Reconfigure mater-up water piping with backflow preventer and specialties.
4. Electrical Work:
a. Turn all breakers to the off position to safely disconnect and secure existing power and ground cables prior to removal of existing pumps, chillers and Fan Coil unit.
b. Replace existing fused disconnects located in the outdoor enclosures with new 110AF/160AS.
c. Reconnect all power cables to new chillers with associated fused switch disconnects.
d. Reconnect power cables to new Fan Coil Unit.
e. Reconnect existing ground cable to each pump frame.
f. Reconnect existing ground cable or copper strap to each chiller equipment frame.
g. Verify and confirm all settings at MCC Switchboard serving the new pumps.
h. Update equipment identification kW for each pump at MCC
Switchboard.
ELECTRICAL BASIS OF DESIGN FOR CHILLERS AND PUMPS
Cables for chillers Reuse existing (4C x 70MM2 with ground cable Equivalent: #2/0 AWG @ 175A)
Breakers Provide outdoor fused disconnect for each chiller (Existing indoor breaker is rated at 160A)
5. Plumbing Work:
a. Reconfiguration of existing make up water supply to include back flow preventer.
b. Plumbing specialties.
6. The work shall include submittals, shop drawings, coordination drawings, testing, balancing and commissioning of equipment and systems, as-built drawings and other record documents.
