Project Sierra Ancha Experimental Forest Research Weir Repairs

General Information

1.0 Scope of Work

Sierra Ancha Experimental Forest Research Weir Repairs is a concrete and general labor project to provide minor repairs to water quality research weirs at Sierra Ancha Experimental Forest.

2.0 Background

Sierra Ancha Experimental Forest performs watershed research and maintains hydrologic records going back to the 1930s when these weirs were originally constructed. Recent wildfire activity has caused significant washout and sediment build-up causing lapses in hydrological data continuity. These repairs are required to continue safe, accurate data gathering operations for the RMRS researchers.

Site access is limited to 4x4 roads with minimal access for larger vehicles. Distance from the weir to edge of nearest road varies from approximately 20-ft to 120-ft. Execution of this project is aimed for the fall (August-November) with most of the in-channel work occurring during the latter two months when flows through the creeks are at their lowest.

Dewatering may still be required.
