2. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount:
The Marion VA Medical Center intends to procure resection urology instrumentation to complete the current resection instrument sets for Urology Service to complete procedures. The facility has Karl Storz instrumentation needs to stay with-in that brand for standardization and interoperability with existing instrumentation.The location of the procedures will be at the VAMC in Marion, IL. Items are: 27005FA, 27040EB, 27040SMK, 27050BE, 27050AE, 27224ALO, 27210A and 27502.

3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
Urology instruments are proprietary in nature. The current instruments that we already have are only compatible with that manufacturer’s instruments and bipolar generator.
The slender bipolar resection set is an add on to our existing KARL STORZ urology sets, and compatible instruments. If we were to purchase a slender resection set from another manufacturer that will not be the case. Additional costs would be incurred to purchase additional equipment to be compatible with the new brand.
