CLARIFICATION QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1. Per coating specification page 3 of 13 item 1.4.3.3 it states that “All contractors and subcontractors that perform surface preparation or coating application shall be certified to either ISO 9001 or SSPC QP-1 and QS-1prior to contract award”. My question is would the QP-1 certification in addition to our QP-2 status be sufficient for this project?

The contractor must be one of the following:

a. ISO 9001 certified OR

b. SSPC QP1 and SSPC QS1 certified

2. Upon review of the specification it was noticed in section 09 97 13.27; 1.4.3.3

“Qualifications of Coating Contractors”, the requirement of bidders to be ISO 9001 or

SSPC QP1 and SSPC QS1. Additionally, under same page section 1.4.3.2

“Qualifications of Coating Inspection Company” states the use of a SSPC QP5 Inspector.

Would it be possible to complete this contract without the QP1 and QS1 certification?

Would it be possible for the inspection to be completed by a local company that has

NACE Level III Certification?

NACE Level III Certification will be an acceptable qualification for the Coating

Inspection Company.
