DESCRIPTION / SPECIFICATION
SECTION C
DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATONS
C-1. OBJECTIVE
The Defense Security Service (DSS) requires the purchase and installation of cabling and associated fixtures as outlined in this statement of work at 7556 Teague Rd, Suite 580, Hanover, MD 21076.
C-2. SCOPE OF WORK
C-2.1. Office Cabling Requirements
Two Post Floor Mounted Server Rack Installation
DSS requires the purchase and installation of a two post floor mounted server rack for secure network communications. The dimensions of the rack must be six (6) feet high and nineteen (19) inches wide. This rack must be installed with a minimum of thirty-nine (39) inches of space between the existing two post server rack and the wall in accordance with Exhibit 6 and Exhibit 7. Cable management equipment must be installed on both post of the server rack.
Server Rack Mounted LAN Room Patch Panel
An eighty-four (84) port Cat5e Ethernet patch panel must be installed to the top of the new two (2) post floor mounted server rack. This patch panel will be the termination point for all red secure Cat5e Ethernet cable runs throughout the office. Cable runs will be installed from the permanent side of this patch panel out to the designated office workstations as depicted in the layouts. Cable management equipment capable of efficiently organizing patch cables up to five (5) feet long must be installed for use with the patch panel.
C-2.2. Structured Cable Management
A cable management system capable of managing Ethernet cable will run from the newly installed two (2) post floor mounted server rack to each workstation, as designated in Exhibit 1, must be installed. The cable management system must be mounted to ceiling, walls, and floor or behind and underneath furniture and tiles. The system must match the color and aesthetic look of the office and furniture. Enough space must exist inside of the system to accommodate the initial installed cable runs and to add additional cables in the future. All cabling must be at least twelve (12) inches away from the red cables and any other electric signaling or power cables, even when ran through the ceiling.
C-2.3. Power Pole Installation and Associated Cable Runs
Approximately twelve (12) power poles must be installed from the ceiling and attached to the office cubicles in the locations depicted in Exhibit 5. These power polls will be used to feed the Ethernet cable that runs to the adjacent workstations throughout the office. The power poles must meet the same specifications as existing power poles that are currently in the office. If this is not attainable, the poles must match the aesthetics of the space.
C-2.4. Cable Runs
Red, shielded, Cat5e Ethernet cables must be run from the newly installed data patch panels in the LAN room to each workstation and location in the office designated with “Red Data Drop” (see figures 1, 2, 3 & 4). These cables must be terminated and mounted at desktop level at each workstation in the office. The connectors on the “Red Data Drop” cables must be metallically shielded. There must always be at least a 12 inch space differential between the red Ethernet cables and any other electrical signaling or power cables throughout the entire office. All cabling must be run within the space, meaning no cabling can be located within the perimeter walls of an adjoining Suite or outside window. This is due to strict security guidelines. See cabling diagrams for approximate locations.
C-2.5. Connectrac Wireway - under the carpet installation
Office 516 requires the purchase and installation of two (2) Connectrac (or equivalent specifications) ultra-low profile wireway systems. Each Connectrac will have two Red data cables ran through, and appropriately terminated under the desks as specified in Figure 5. For more information on the Connectrac system (to include specifications), please refer to the following link: http://www.connectrac.com/site/i-series.asp
C-2.6. Cabling Requirements
Eighty four (84) Red Data Drops must be installed throughout the office in accordance with figure 1.
All Red Ethernet cable must be shielded Cat 5e plenum certified.
All RJ45 Connectors attaching to red shielded Ethernet cabling must have metallic shielding.
All installed LAN cabling must be “Red” in color.
All cable runs must be concealed from view with the exception of the cabling terminating in the LAN room.
Cable raceways and other cable concealment devices must match the color and aesthetic attributes of its surroundings.
Each individual cable run/drop (from the patch panels out to the workstations) will be run and installed as a single cable, dedicated to one jack port at the faceplate/jack box.
Five (5) 25 feet “Red” shielded Cat5e Ethernet patch cables with shielded connectors must be purchased and placed in the LAN room for DSS use.
Eighty-Four (84) 15 feet “Red” shielded Cat5e Ethernet patch cables with shielded connectors must be purchased and placed in the LAN room for DSS use.
Eighty-Four (84) 7 feet “Red” shielded Cat5e Ethernet patch cables with shielded connectors must be purchased and placed in the LAN room for DSS use.
Eighty-Four (84) 3 feet “Red” shielded Cat5e Ethernet patch cables with shielded connectors must be purchased and placed in the LAN room for DSS use.
C-2.7. Jack Boxes, Face Plates and Jack Ports
All jack boxes and faceplates must be modular.
All modular faceplates must be capable of accepting six modular jack ports.
Modular jack ports must be installed in the associated modular face plates.
All Voice and Data jack ports must be RJ-45 and Cat 5e certified.
The Data cable/faceplate/jack box installation location will be positioned in accordance with the site diagram at the workstation mounted at desktop or workstation level.
All modular jack ports terminating red cable must be “Red” in color.
C-2.8. Additional Requirements
The contractor shall be responsible for testing all installed cabling to ensure that it meets Cat5e speed specifications.
A testing report listing each cable run and the result of the test must be provided to the DSS within 10 business days after testing.
The contractor shall also be responsible for labeling each installed drop and new patch panel sequentially to their respective port in a manner that allows identification of which patch panel port matches which workstation drop.
