DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

HEADQUARTERS AIR FORCE SUSTAINMENT CENTER (AFMC)

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE OKLAHOMA

MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

SUBJECT: Item Description, A23-015 KC46 Hot Bonder Kits

1. The 76th AMXG requests the purchase of two (2) each Hot Bonder Kits

2. The requested item descriptions/specifications are outlined below.

A. Two (2) Hot Bonder Kits, each kit includes the following:

1) One (1) Dual Zone Hot Bonder

• Each zone should include the following:

o Separate sensor inputs for heat application, vacuum, and time o 10 to 15 thermocouple inputs o Can be independently powered and operated, and can also be run as one o 120V, 30A

• Dot matrix printer that includes the capability to print the following:

o Time, date, and program description o Record of Tag Number, P/N, Employee ID o Time and temperature graph o Set point, temperatures, and vacuum at specified intervals o Thermocouple temperature summary o Record of alarm conditions, program changes, and adjustments

• Stores 40 to 50 hours of cure record information for export

• 8 to 10 ramps and dwells per program

• 25 to 35 cure profiles

• Screen for graphic and numeric displays, including temperature and vacuum with option for user selected units, including English units

• Alphanumeric keypad for text entry and revision

• Temperature adjustments made in increments of at most 1°F or 1°C, depending on user selection

• Active monitoring of all thermocouples

• Shall have auditory and display alarm

• Alarm causes a hold condition until issue is resolved

• Shall include alarms for the following:

o High or low temperature deviations for ramp and dwell o Low vacuum o Timer

• Internal vacuum system including the following:

o Adjustable up to 28 in. Hg o Runs off plant air, adjustable to a maximum 100 PSI o Maximum flow rate of 0.75 cubic ft/min o Operates on 90-264VAC

• PID control with tuning

• Maximum weight of 40lbs

• Handles on sides

• Circuit breakers located on front control panel

• CE Certified

• Language: English

• Hot bonder operation and maintenance manual provided

2) Two (2) Input power cable, Straight blade connector, 120V, 15A, Minimum length 10ft

3) Two (2) Output power cable, 125V, includes the following:

• Thermoplastic junction box

• Two NEMA 5-15 receptacles, 15A ea.

• Minimum length 10ft

4) Twenty (20) Type J Thermocouples must include the following:

• 22-24 AWG

• Vacuum sealed Teflon insulated

• Temperature rated to minimum 500°F

• Welded tip

• Minimum length 10ft

• Compliance with MIL STD 45662A

• Molded plug

• Compatible with hot bonder

5) Four (4) Vacuum Hose with sniffer:

• High temperature Teflon hose o Minimum length 10ft o Stainless steel braided protective wrap

• Quick release fitting

• High temperature machined aluminum vacuum sniffer

6) One (1) External air filter assembly for vacuum air supply system

• In-line filter, bulb style

• Installs to plant air connection

• Quick disconnect on plant air side and output side o ¼” NPT female threads

7) One (1) Bonder Calibration Equipment

• Shall include the following:

o Calibration Certificate and operator manual o Digital Temperature Calibrator o Thermocouple Interconnect Cable o Calibrated Vacuum Gauge 0-30 inHg, ¼ NPT connection o Hose Assembly and Adapter

• Shall be compatible with hot bonder

8) Software computer program for data storage, display, and analysis

• Compatible with Windows 10 and newer

• Data sharing over network with hot bonder

• Time, temperature, and vacuum events log

• Time stamped alarms, program changes, power-loss events, and program step changes

• Built-in Excel spreadsheet Format Data Export and print function

• Includes TC and vacuum data plot view, cure profile and data summary view, and detailed graph display

9) One (1) 10” diameter textured silicon rubber heat blanket 120V, 393W with Teflon insulated leads, minimum length 5ft, and compatible plug

10) One (1) 10x10” textured silicone rubber heat blanket 120V, 500W with Teflon insulated leads, minimum length 5ft, and compatible plug

11) One (1) 12x12” Mosites Silicone Rubber heat blanket 120V, 750W with Teflon

12) One (1) 12x12” textured silicone rubber heat blanket 120V, 750W with Teflon

13) One (1) 15x15”, Mosites Silicone Rubber heat blanket 120V, 1125W with Teflon

14) One (1) 15x15” textured silicone rubber heat blanket 120V, 1125W with Teflon

15) MIL-STD-130N compliant labelling

16) Supply at least twenty (20) white printer paper rolls compatible with the hot bonder per kit

17) Supply at least four (4) printer ribbons compatible with the hot bonder per kit
