BRUDIS & ASSOCIATES, INC.: COMPANY OVERVIEW

Brudis & Associates, Inc. (BAI) is a multidiscipline engineering firm with specialized experience providing engineering and program management services for federal, state and local government agencies; commercial, industrial, and educational facilities. Specifically, BAI’s experience includes:

• Structural Engineering: BAI provided structural design for building renovations, rehabilitation, structure inspection, analysis, design. This has involved foundation design, construction consolation, building alterations/repairs, building code compliance and evaluations, frame analysis, structural roof supports and loading, HVAC equipment loads and impact loading.

Projects have also included the preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for sub-structure and superstructure repairs and rehabilitation; retaining walls, and other miscellaneous structures.

• Civil Engineering: involving site design for campus-type facilities and large scale facilities, building, access and parking layout, utility requirements (water, sewer, electric communications); stormwater management requirements; pavement design & evaluation; NPDES compliance, and erosion and sediment control. Designs have involved innovative storm drainage design to improve the quality of stormwater; ADA compliance;

safety improvements, reconstruction and upgrading;

feasibility investigations; hydraulic/hydrology computations, and floodplain determination.

• Construction Management/Inspection: involving observation and contractor compliance; shop drawing and catalogue cut reviews, field measurements and construction documentation, contractor claims analysis, utility coordination, safety procedures, constructability reviews, field measurements and testing, construction scheduling, contractor progress meetings, punch lists, and review of contractors’ invoicing.

• Program Management: BAI provides management of all phases of project development. Program management begins with the preliminary concept of each task and BAI continues to coordinate each engineering phase on through construction, ensuring that each engineering discipline can work hand-in-hand through project completion.

Since 1992, BAI has provided these program management and multi-discipline engineering services for strategic planning for technology programs, concept development and requirements analysis, system design, engineering and integration services for Federal, State and Local government agencies.

Curve Advisory Speed Workshop

FHWA

BAI analyzed methodology and workshop developed by Texas Transportation Institute to show the inconsistencies of traditional methods for collecting data used to set curve advisory speeds. BAI reformulated this workshop presentation, based on a requirements analysis, to develop a session appropriate for training a national audience of transportation and traffic practitioners.

Automated Speed Enforcement Maryland DOT

BAI reviewed States’ Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) Programs in order to develop ASE program cost and revenue estimates for Maryland work zone enforcement, RFP for contractor services and functional specifications to procure ASE contractor.

DEFINITIONS OF LABOR CATEGORIES

Principal Project Manager — Minimum BS Degree in engineering, and/or math and science with minimum of 20 years experience. Registered PE or comparable registration. Principal Project Manager has a broad responsibility for the complete oversight of detailed or complex contracts. This involves the coordination with other organizations (subcontractors and clients), internal professional staff, and the community as required to implement the project. The Principal is generally a senior member of the firm capable of entering into legal agreements on behalf of the firm.

Project Manager — Minimum BS Degree in engineering, and/or math and science. Minimum of 15 years experience. Registered PE or comparable registration. Project Manager is responsible for the management and the complete oversight of each phase of a contract. This involves coordination with other organizations (subcontractors, client, internal staff, and the community); and management of the project schedule, quality and budget.

Senior Engineer — Minimum BS Degree in engineering, and/or math and science. Minimum of 20 years experience. Registered PE or comparable experience and/or registration. Typical duties will include application of design standards relevant to discipline (i.e. civil engineering, hydrology/hydraulic engineering, structural engineering, etc.). Development of detailed specifications, cost estimates, and construction schedules.

Project Engineer — Minimum BS Degree in engineering, and/or math and science. Minimum of 8 years experience. Engineer-in-Training, Registered PE or comparable experience and/or registration. Performs field investigations, standardized calculations or tests under the supervision of a professional engineer.

May assist the professional engineer in the development of detailed specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules.

Design Engineer — Minimum BS Degree in engineering, and/or math and science. Minimum 1 year of experience. Engineer-in-Training, Registered PE or comparable experience and/or registration. Duties generally include performing standardized engineering calculations, preparing cost estimates, specifications and construction schedules under the supervision of a professional engineer.

Designer - High School graduate. Minimum 5 years experience. The designer generally assists the project team in design and review services including the development of drawings, details, and plats.

Technician/CADD — High School graduate. Minimum 1 year of experience. Typical related duties include development of drawings, details, plats or graphic contract documents under the supervision of a professional engineer.

Administrative/Clerical — High School Graduate. 5 years of related experience. General responsibilities vary but may include assembling factual and technical information, developing reports and invoices. Staff members in this classification are capable of word processing, data entry, copy editing, accounting, etc.
