WHO WE ARE?

The Westmark Group is a specialized consulting and project management firm providing expertise in environmental consulting, occupational safety and health services and waste management services throughout the Southwest United States.

WHAT WE DO?

The Westmark Group provides a broad range of services in the areas of environmental site assessments and corrective action services, waste management services, occupational safety and health services, hazardous material emergency response, project management, site evaluation, remedy negotiation, remedial action, and other technical activities related to superfund and hazardous waste sites.

The Westmark Group has experience in acquiring National Pollution Discharge Elimination Permits, extensive experience in regulatory compliance activities and project management issues involving environmental contamination from lead and other metals, organic compounds, PCBs, petroleum hydrocarbons, and other contaminants. We have frequently been requested to provide project management and technical coordination activities for major environmental projects. These activities involve planning, coordination, and control of day-to-day project activities, including allocation of resources and ongoing technical and management reviews of each task being performed under a primary contract. As part of those projects, The Westmark Group is responsible for day-to-day decision-making related to the project, for project coordination with regulatory authorities and the primary consultant or contractor, for cost savings and cost control measures, and for direct communications to the client.

Decision-making related to major issues, which might include project scope changes that could affect project schedule or cost, are reviewed with the client for decisions prior to implementation.

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Plans, conducts, manages, and supervises technical and/or administrative duties of major business units and/or complex client initiatives. Manages programs or projects of major significance. Oversees the review and approval of project controls plans including trend programs, project cost estimates, forecasts, schedules, and financial reports and may review commitments that exceed assigned budgets. Assures that appropriate customer contact, including major correspondence and working relationships between the customer and Westmark, is maintained throughout the duration of the projects. Establishes company health and safety (H&S) and quality assurance (QA) objectives. Manages indirect cost elements.

Has profit or loss responsibility and authority to commit the firm. Generally operates with full latitude for un-reviewed action or decision. Directs significant and complex projects where advanced knowledge and unique approaches may be required. Supplies technical and/or administrative direction throughout the firm.

Minimum Education: A Bachelor’s degree in science, administration, or business.

Minimum Experience Requirements: Must have eight years of experience which exhibit increasing levels of responsibility. This senior professional position is an engineer (or scientist) who is knowledgeable in generic areas relating to advanced technological systems and concepts and is also able to solve complex programs in any technical area.

Title: Senior Industrial Hygienist

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Reports to Principal. Conducts industrial hygiene programs including: health hazard assessments, develops written health and safety manuals, performs worksite inspections, IH sampling, respirator training. Monitors health and safety program compliance across all elements of the company's, including subcontractors. Maintains Safety contingency plans, helps to solve workplace safety problems, and inspects required records on accidents and maintenance, making changes in programs in the event that issues arise. Ensures that' work is performed in a safe manner and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Authorizes purchases of personal protective equipment and helps to resolve workplace safety issues. Together with Principal, Program Manager, and Industrial Hygienist, directs and monitors required H&S corrective actions. Tracks staff compliance with H&S-related training requirements and maintains required H&S documentation. Has day-to-day responsibility to ensure that company Health & Safety Control procedures are adhered at all times. Integrates H&S and QA into programs. Manages the development of program plans, budgets, and schedules. Supplies direction or advice to other professionals and to project managers. Oversees the administration of prime contracts to ensure that the terms and conditions stated therein are fulfilled and Westmark’s objectives are achieved.

Responsible for formulating, monitoring, and enforcing work plans, assigning schedules, reviewing work discrepancies, and supervising personnel. Generally operates with wide latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.

Minimum Education: A Bachelor’s degree in science, administration, or related field

(or scientist) who is knowledgeable in Environmental Science.

Title: Project Manager

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Under general supervision of a Principal, Associate, or Program Manager, plans, conducts, manages, and supervises large project assignments of high complexity. Assures that work scope, project budget, and project schedule objectives and client expectations are met. Executes assignments requiring judgment in independent evaluation of procedures and criteria. Integrates H&S and QA into projects. Devises solutions to new and existing problems. Ability to plan, organize, lead, and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to their successful completion. Develops project execution plans, scope definition, project procedures, budgets, and project schedules. Ensures acceptance by the customer and functional management. Reviews contract proposal documents and data for the project. Establishes plans, schedules and budgets for contract obligations and reviews the technical input for the final proposal.

Directs technical staff assignments, reviews progress, and evaluates results. Operates with latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.

Title: Senior Staff Geologist

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Under general supervision of a project manager and senior technical staff, plans, conducts, manages, and supervises technical assignments. Estimates and schedules work to meet completion dates. Directs assistance, reviews progress, and evaluates results; makes changes in methods, design, and equipment where necessary. Independently decides on scientific problems and methods. Requires the ability and expertise to use advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of particular field of specialty resulting from progressive experience. Participates in the training of juniors within the field. May coordinate regular contacts with clients for the exchange of data or minor orders. Operates with some latitude for un-reviewed action or decision. Minimum Education: A Bachelor’s degree in science, administration, or related field

(or scientist) who is knowledgeable in Environmental Science, and preferably be a Registered Geologist.

Title: Field Supervisor

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Description of Qualifications: Under general supervision of a Program Manager or senior project manager conducts, manages, and supervises mid-sized project assignments of moderate complexity. Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering the project from the conceptual stages through finish. Assures that work scope, project budget, and project schedule objectives and client expectations are met. Executes assignments requiring judgment in independent evaluation of procedures and criteria Integrates H&S and QA into projects.

Devises solutions to new and existing problems. Ensures that customer contact is maintained throughout the duration of the project. Monitors and controls all contractual commitments to ensure that all work is being performed in accordance with the specifications, drawings, and terms of the contract. Conducts periodic project and customer meetings to review progress and discuss issues. Ensures problems involving coordination, schedule and the setting of priorities are resolved. Directs technical staff assignments, reviews progress, and evaluates results. Operates with some latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.

Title: Staff Geologist/Engineer/Scientist

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Lowest/entry classification. Works under close supervision of a project manager or senior technical staff member. Gathers and correlates basic data and performs routine analyses. Conceives and conducts research in problem areas under supervision of staff Devises new approaches to problems encountered and coordinates various technical aspects of work. Works on less complicated assignments where little evaluation is required. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects. Responsible for handling standard or routine tasks within His or Her specialty.

Under supervision of senior staff member, selects techniques within an overall specified plan, budget, and schedule. Regularly reviews work with their assigned project/technical lead.

Title: Senior Environmental Technician

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Works under supervision of professional staff and project managers, typically performing standardized tasks of moderate complexity.

Maintains and operates all instruments and measuring devices needed to complete survey projects. Compiles environmental or scientific data from samples, tests, drawings, specification or field notes. Directs activities of junior technicians. Conducts non routine lab tests that require non-standard procedures and complex instrumentation. Makes simple measurements and observations; may make preliminary recommendations concerning the acceptance of materials or workmanship in clear-cut situations. Operates testing or processing equipment, troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and makes repairs, and performs routine analyses and data collection activities.

Title: AutoCAD Technician

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Works under close supervision of Project Managers and Professional Staff. Performs CAD activities of limited complexity. Prepares maps, figures, overheads, slides, and other documentation and presentation materials;

responsible for overall appearance of figures and other drafted work. Lays out contract drawings based on constraints defined by project managers, Engineer/Planners, or lead designers to ensure technical accuracy, coordination, consistency and completeness.

Designs process systems based on diagrams, schematics and preliminary layouts prepared by Engineer/Planners. Determines CAD usage and application on projects.

Investigates, researches and procures all data required to develop design Phase.

Regularly reviews work with their assigned project/technical lead.

Minimum Education: Has training in relevant software packages and has up to three years (3) work experience.

Title: Asbestos/Mold Project Monitor

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Observes abatement activities performed by contractors, to represent the building owner to ensure work is completed according to specifications and in compliance with statutes and regulations, and to perform air monitoring to determine final clearance. Conducts visual inspections and proper containment setup, as well as proper handling and disposal of asbestos-containing building material (ACBM). Conducts personal air monitoring, as well as area monitoring.

Interpretation of laboratory analytical findings and production of report of findings.

Produce Negative Exposure Assessments.

Minimum Education: AHERA Asbestos Contractor Supervisor accreditation and has up to two years (2) work experience.

Minimum Experience Requirements: AHERA Asbestos Inspector accreditation and has up to three years (3) work experience.

Title: Asbestos/Mold Inspector

Functional Duties/Responsibilities: Examines facilities for the presence of ACBM (asbestos-containing building materials), identifies and assesses the condition of the material, and collects bulk samples. Laboratory analysis interpretation and production of report of findings. Conclusions and recommendations based on analytical findings.

Regulatory compliance and the interpretation of building material classifications for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the National Emissions Standards for Air Pollutants (NESHAP). Regulatory compliance and the recognition of employee hazards and exposure levels for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Minimum Education: AHERA Asbestos Contractor Supervisor accreditation and has up to two years (2) work experience.
