SIN 899-5 / 899-5RC

Materials and Waste Recycling and Disposal Services Management and oversight of Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) disposal operations, and management, oversight and recycling of universal waste. This includes reuse assessments and inventory, destruction, inventory transfer and/or disposal.

Remediation and Reclamation Services Excavation, removal and disposal of hazardous waste; Site preparation, characterization, field investigation, conservation and closures; Wetland restoration; Emergency response clean up (ERC); Underground storage tank/above-ground storage tank (UST/AST) removal; Air monitoring; Soil vapor extraction; Stabilization/solidification, bio-venting, carbon absorption, reactive walls, containment, monitoring and/or reduction of hazardous waste sites, as well as unexploded ordnance removal; Remediation-related laboratory testing (e.g., biological, chemical, physical, pollution and soil testing). Reclamation services include, but are not limited to: Land (e.g., creating new land from sea or riverbeds and/or restoring areas to a more natural state, such as after pollution, desertification, or salination have made it unusable); and Water and refrigerant reclamation.

LABOR CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS

JOB TITLE:

FIELD CHEMIST

The essential elements of the position include, but are not limited to:

· Technical individual responsible for handling, packaging, transportation and disposal of hazardous laboratory chemicals and wastes

· Reports to the Project Manager and Site Supervisor and may perform analysis of chemicals, development of safe handling and packaging protocols and adhering to proper safety and environmental regulations.

· Work in teams to perform lab pack services including chemical segregation, packing, and disposal.

· Perform chemical inventories

· Perform audits and field sampling in facilities and laboratories.

· Able to calibrate and operate monitoring meters such as (PID, 4-Gas, Noise Dosimeters, Dust Meters, Air Sampling Equipment)

· Knowledge of EPA Waste Codes and DOT Manifesting and Land Disposal Restrictions

· Responsible for correct labeling and segregation of hazardous waste, ensures manifest and lab pack sheets are correctly filled out before shipping.

· Ability to read chemical names and identified chemical hazards

· Knowledge of NIOSH guide and ERG 2008

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· BS/BA in environmental science, Chemistry, Biology, or safety related field

· CHMM / CSP highly desired

· Knowledge of RCRA, EPA, OSHA Standards / regulations

· Knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures

· Knowledge of RCRA / DOT Hazardous Waste Shipping

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

· 3-5 years experience working with hazardous chemicals

· OSHA 40 Hour Health & Safety Training

· OSHA 8 Hour Health & Safety Training

JOB TITLE:

FIELD TECHNICIAN

1. The Field Technician reports directly to the Project Foreman and Site Supervisor.

2. The Field Technician is responsible for tasks associated with site remediation, emergency response spill clean-up, abatement and demolition projects and handling of hazardous waste.

3. Performs various manual activities to complete assigned work

4. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing results as needed.
