All services have a minimum charge of 2 hours.

2.

Each additional hour is billed in 30 minute increments.

3.

Evening hours (5:00pm – 8:00am) and weekends will be billed at 1.5x the hourly rate.

4.

Time and a half (1.5x) the hourly rate will be applied for hours worked over 8 hours (billed in 30 minute increments).

5.

Urgent requests (less than 24 hours notice) will be billed at 1.5x the hourly rate.

6.

RID SC:L (Specialist Certificate: Legal) or individual state equivalent will be billed at 1.5x the regular hourly rate. *Sign Language Only* 7.

At least 2 ASL interpreters need to be scheduled for assignments lasting over 1.5 hours due to the taxing physical activity and mental focus that the interpreter needs to sustain throughout the assignment.

8.

Two (2) or more simultaneous interpreters need to be scheduled for all assignments due to the taxing physical activity and mental focus that the interpreter needs to sustain throughout the assignment.

9.

For consecutive interpreting, the amount of people needing interpreting will determine if 2 or more interpreters are needed.

10.

Interpreters work as a team, switching as needed to provide uninterrupted service throughout the whole assignment. Total hours are billed for each interpreter.

11.

Travel time will be billed at the hourly rate in 15 minute increments (increments will be rounded up) for sign language and at the IRS Standard Mileage Rate for other interpretation services.

12.

Parking fees may also be applied (receipts of parking can be provided).

13.

Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice before the scheduled date and time will be billed in for the full scheduled time.

14.

No-shows will be billed for the full scheduled time including roundtrip travel time.

15.

Normal office hours of operation are 9:00am – 6:00pm (CST) Monday through Friday.

Description of Labor Categories *Sign Language Services

1.

Certified Sign Language Interpreter: Qualified and capable professional ASL interpreter certified by RID and/or certified by the state in which they live.

2.

Specialist Certificate – Legal: Holders of this specialist certification have demonstrated specialized knowledge of legal settings and greater familiarity with language used in the legal system. Certification recognized by RID, documented training and legal interpreting experience are required prior to sitting for this exam. Holders of the SC: L are recommended for a broad range of assignments in the legal setting. They must be a current certified member of RID, successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in any field or associate’s degree in interpreting and documentation of at least 50 hours of legal interpreting/mentoring experience and 30 hours of formal legal training. In addition, 5 years of general interpreting experience (post-certified member of RID status) is strongly recommended.

3.

Minimum level of education for certification in sign language other than Legal is an associate’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience as a sign language interpreter.

ALT Services, Inc. acknowledges that the Service Contract Act (SCA) is applicable to this contract as it applies to the entire language Schedule and all services provided. While no specific SCA labor categories have been identified, this contract still maintains the provisions of the SCA and will be compensated in accordance with the applicable wage determination(s) for the location(s) in which work is performed. If and/or when the contractor adds SCA labor categories/employees to the contract through the modification process, the contractor must inform the Contracting Officer and establish an SCA matrix identifying the GSA labor category titles, the occupational code, SCA labor category titles, and the applicable wage determination number. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the contract.
