III: Company Overview

Aerial Photomapping Services is a full service photogrammetric organization and a member of the Management Association of Private Photogrammetric Surveyors. We service the professional and general public from our centrally located offices in Clovis, California. APS offers experience and expertise in a variety of geodetic services including: precision aerial photography, topographic mapping, 3D visualization, and analytical aero-triangulation. Offering complete photographic services to our clientele, the full in house photo lab supports the mapping end of the business as well. Finally our digital imagery team provides services including: digital orthophoto, photogrammetric scanning, and rectified photos.

The day to day management of the organization is conducted by our President and Senior Project Manager, Mr. Terry Hayden. Since 1977, Mr. Hayden has been involved in photogrammetry and is a member of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. Also a registered professional photogrammetrist in the State of Oregon, Mr. Hayden is an affiliate member of the California Land Surveyors Association and an affiliate member of the American Council of Engineering Companies. Our photogrammetric staff is led by Production Manager, Mr. Dan Dietrich who has been with the company since its inception. Digital data editing and CADD work are under the direction of Mr. David Proud, while our in house photo lab is headed by Mrs. Sherry Allen. The growing digital imagery department is headed by Mr. Brad Richmond and aiding our management staff are highly qualified technicians and administrative support. All of our staff have a minimum of two years experience in their respective fields, while our senior staff has over twenty years of direct experience.

While no amount of hardware and software can replace highly qualified staff, state of the art facilities can certainly augment well versed experienced personnel. As a firm, we have successfully endeavored to achieve an optimal balance between the two. To produce our vector mapping to the highest standards of quality and accuracy, we rely on first order analytical stereo plotters. Aside from the instrument’s inherent unsurpassed accuracy, they are completely digitally oriented, avoiding the degradation of their mechanical counterparts. The output of our data can be supplied as hard copy plots from our Hewlitt Packard Design Jet plotters, as well as on a variety of magnetic and optical media. Engineered to provide an accurate efficient throughput of imagery for mapping purposes, the BAE Systems Digital Photogrammetric Workstation is utilized for all our image based mapping output. With this system in house, we are

PG 5

able to offer our clients cost effective services ranging from simple rectified digital images to full digital orthophoto hard copy sheets and files. We can also provide site analysis such as line of site maps and shaded relief maps. This system is fully capable of more esoteric output services ranging from perspective scene “flythrough” to correcting individual multi-story rooflines to compensate for image displacement due to location in the photograph. In order to fully control the digital process and maintain the output quality, the input images are provided by a fully metric high resolution scanner. Our in house scanner, the Wehrli RM-6, is capable of 8 micron scan resolution with an accuracy of + 4 microns. Our scanning technician tests all images before scanning to establish the best density distribution for each particular flight, to ensure quality.

Out put for the vector/CADD map data can be formatted for use by AutoCAD, Microstation, or any variety of commercial systems. Our digital image data can be formatted as .tif, Targa, GIF or any of approximately 20 different image formats. We can also provide georeferenced images using either the Arc-Info “world” file format or any number of other reference methods. Our selection of application software for the variety of services that we perform includes standard CADD packages, quantity calculation and full surface modeling/DTM packages. All our staff has been trained in applications ranging from roadway design services to GIS data conversion.

Rounding out our company is the photographic department, complete with full service in house photo lab. We keep an extensive library of aerial photography in stock to serve both our professional clientele as well as the general public. Our lab technicians are well versed in a wide variety of products and services that we are called upon to provide. Supporting all aspects of the company’s operation, is our administrative department. Our office manager and bookkeeper, Mrs. Victoria Tagliente has over 10 years of accounting and administrative experience, as well as 3 years of GSA billing experience.

Please visit our website www.photomapping.com for additional information, or feel free to contact the office at (559) 291-0147. Our office is open Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm PST.
