Analytic Unit Supervisor
Designed to assist agency’s grow, develop and manage their analytical services division. Whether an agency has a single staff member tasked with DOJ reporting or an active staff of real-time analysts, this course provides the road map to furthering the value of law enforcement analytics. Core interactive learning will provide the student with proven and tested principals, case examples applications, and established and productive methods. Personnel will gain practical knowledge which will assist with crime analysis and tactical case support, and will also acquire a roadmap to further develop their department’s analytical services division. This course is appropriate for active analytical personnel and their supervisors.

Designed to refocus and recharge analytical personnel, this course empowers analytical personnel to maximizing their abilities, display their skill sets, and make better presentations. Analysts, supervisors and detectives will view analytical personnel as dynamic members of a team, not simply “analysts”.

812-232-4200 www.policetechnical.com www.policetechnical.com
Cell Phone Data and Mapping
The amount of data retrieved during a cell phone investigation can be staggering. Call records and tower data generate hundreds of records in just a few days from a single phone, tens of thousands of records are not unusual. Managing this data (and visually depicting it) showing criminality, and making it “make sense” to others is the purpose of this course.
Cell Phone Investigations
The course covers methods to view, analyze and present cell phone (and related data sets) data generated from current investigations. Through the use of specific case studies and prepared sample sets of data (generated from actual cases) students learn how to analyze and present data found in typical investigations. Special data sets (non-cell phone) are also presented as potential sources for evidence.
Critical Thinking for Law Enforcement
How do we think? How do we make decisions? are two important questions for law enforcement personnel and analysts. The process by which LE professionals make decisions can impact and affect scores of lives, both internal to our departments and the public at large. In a concise two-day course, personnel are active in discussing and applying the concepts by which we make our decisions. Case studies and small groups activities transform a potentially “dry subject”, into what many LE professional indicate was “one of the most important courses of their careers”.
Dark Web Investigations
While most of the public is accustomed to Google and common social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter, Law
Enforcement officials are interested in a side of the Internet that criminals are increasingly turning to: the dark web.
Here, subjects are involved in hacking, file corruption, trafficking, counterfeit software, and the exchange of restricted goods.
Effective Writing for Law Enforcement
Virtually everyone in the world knows how to use Microsoft WORD®, but very few law enforcement professionals have been taught how to use this program in the performance of their jobs. This is that class. How do we write? How do we create documents within a law enforcement environment? These are the questions asked and answered in this course.
Excel for Public Safety
Microsoft Excel® for Public Safety™ is designed to help public safety personnel best utilize Microsoft Excel ® to successfully manage law enforcement specific data. Whether it is case specific data (e.g. telephone tolls, financials) or agency-wide data (e.g. arrest stats, fugitive lists, calls for service), it can be analyzed with just a few clicks using this powerful tool!

Future of Narcotic Enforcement
Most law enforcement courses have a clear practical application (i.e. defensive tactics, report writing). Most courses, both at the Academy level or private are reactionary, responding to current needs. Very few classes in the Field are forward thinking, proposing solutions to projected problems and issues of tomorrow. This course is one of the latter category. While this class address contemporary issues, its main goal is to help agencies prepare to navigate the coming shift in mission and responsibilities as related to drug laws, de-criminalization, incarceration, treatment and prevention.
Human Trafficking Investigations
Human Trafficking is today's form of modern slavery and it's happening in all of our nation. Local, County, State, and
Federal Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the country have been reactive and proactive in multiple different capacities to reduce the demand by saving victims and arresting the buyers of this growing criminal industry.
Internet of Things (IoT)
In 2018, the number of "Things" connected to the Internet surpassed the world's population and the deployment continues to accelerate. This course will raise awareness of the Internet of Things and how it relates to Law
Enforcement and criminal investigations. Participants will learn about IoT architecture and how to classify, and investigations crimes involving the IoT. We will also discuss the challenges faced by Law Enforcement as we try to keep pace with the development and deployment of tomorrow's technology and how to use the IoT as a force multiplier in our own agencies.
i2 Analyst Notebook
IBM® i2® Analyst’s Notebook® is a rich, data-centric visual analysis environment. Combining data storage, analysis tools, visualization and dissemination capabilities it is the standard for law enforcement analysts. Analyst’s Notebook helps analysts and investigators discover networks, patterns and trends from volumes of data from multiple sources.
Narcotic Unit Supervisor
Narcotic operations has changed dramatically in the past 10 years: Laws governing narcotics, criminal process, manufacturing, distribution, even the chemical composition of the drugs themselves have changed. To remain effective, and in some case to remain in existence at all, Narcotics Units, their mission, their methods, their team members, and their supervision must change also.
812-232-4200 www.policetechnical.com www.policetechnical.com
OIS Investigations
The use of deadly force and how these cases are investigated have become scrutinized more than ever before. This class offers students a way to assess their agency or team on how they approach these investigations. The instructor uses real case studies in order to facilitate discussion about best practices and national trends. From securing the scene, conducting an un-bias fact finding investigation, collecting and organizing all the case information, to professionally presenting the case, Police Technical has it covered. Students are encouraged to bring laptops that have the Microsoft
Office Suite on them in order to participate in this interactive course.
OneNote: Digital Case Management
Criminal investigations are more complex today than 20 years ago. The amount and variety of data, materials and ultimately evidence, in criminal case management has grown along with the rise of laptops, tablets and cell technology.
Today, a basic criminal case can easily contain: audio and video files, cell phone and tower data, financial spreadsheets, and hundreds of documents; complex cases contain even more. But criminal case management for many agencies today is often still connected to a manila folder of printed, analog pages of text and images.
Online Investigations
Conducting online investigations presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities for law enforcement personnel.
These challenges and opportunities demand new skill sets in order to evolve with technological change. This course will provide the student with the knowledge to cultivate and develop that skill set. This course will empower the student with the ability to effectively conduct online criminal investigations, engage in online undercover investigations, and locate track and apprehend criminals blending yesterday’s, today’s and tomorrow’s technology.
Open Source Investigations
Open source investigations utilize free, unsecured websites to search for real world criminal activity. There is no trickery in open source investigations, it is not a way to get past usernames and passwords; it’s simply a way to obtain what a criminal posts (names, pictures, videos, conversations) in open, and public forums. There is no need for search warrants, court orders, or subpoenas.
PIO and Community Engagement
The communication gap between law enforcement agencies and the public creates tensions which can cause local incidents to make the national news. Decades in the making, compounded by legal process and policies, this gap reduces a department’s effectiveness at serving its community and enforcing its laws. But it’s not too late for agencies to take steps toward improving those relationships.
812-232-4200 www.policetechnical.com www.policetechnical.com
PowerPoint for Public Safety
PowerPoint® for Public Safety™ is designed to assist all public safety personnel become more efficient and proficient with PowerPoint®.
Real-Time Cell Phone Investigations
Whether responding to a critical missing person, a homicide, or a hostage barricade, students learn step by step how to exploit mobile technology in real time and how to interpret the data available from the various service providers.
Students are also exposed to emerging cellular technologies including NELOS, PCMD, RTT, and EVDO.
Securing Your Identity
Privacy isn’t about hiding something. It’s about being able to control how we present ourselves to the world. It is the right to keep things to yourself. It’s about personal dignity. The protection of our personal information, online and in the physical world, has never been more important. Law enforcement professionals, military personnel, whistleblowers, and every citizen needs to understand the threats to their safety due to the relentless collection of personal data. There are many ways to take control of what information is available about you, how it is shared, and to remove data that may compromise your safety or identity. This course explains a collection of resources and tactics to help us overcome issues affecting our privacy, strengthen our digital security, and to control what the Internet knows about us.
Slavery's Legacy for Law Enforcement
Abolished by the 13th Amendment to the Constitution in 1865, Slavery’s legacy continues to impact the United States and “race” relations for US law enforcement. Recent events from Baltimore, to Chicago, to Ferguson, to Los Angeles highlight how law enforcement continues to struggle with race, and how little direction is provided to them to actually improve relations. This course provides a historical primer on how we got here, insight into where we are going, and guidance on how we can improve our future.
Social Media Methods
Social Media Methods is a hands-on 2 day class that is designed to help personnel and their agencies who are looking to effectively manage their online presence. Social Media is the best tool available for Community Policing and public relations. There is so much more to marketing your agency than creating a Facebook Page and sending out a few tweets. Across the nation over 90% of law enforcement agencies are using social media. This sounds great, except most agencies are not using social media platforms to their full potential. This course will teach you to leverage the full power of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, and YouTube.
